Would Rogers allow servers again?

After all, they ARE putting on a bandwidth limit :-/

It would be a good scam for them too. Cause the people running servers would be more likely to go over their limits by accident, and Rogers would be the ones to reap the benefits.

I see no reason whatsoever why they shouldn't allow servers after instituting bandwidth limits. Frankly, they're stupid not to.

Unlikely, because even at 192 Kbits/sec on the backlink channel, it will still be very easy to saturate it by a few users on one node.

Maybe it's just me, but I hate the BS that rogers feeds us.

Dear,

Thank you for emailing the Rogers Hi-Speed Internet Electronic Support
team. We appreciate hearing from our subscribers regarding our service.

As the issue of bandwidth caps has not taken place on the network at
this time, it does not warrant the use of servers on the Rogers network.

Please be advised that the reason that Rogers dismisses the use of
servers on the network, is to prevent conflicts with our own servers
that operate our network.

With regard to how our policies will change regarding the use of servers
once the bandwidth caps are in place, is not known at this time. We
apologize for the inconvenience. Please refer to the website
'www.rogers.com' for updates on the issue.

If you have any further questions or comments regarding our service,
please contact us by phone at 1-888-288-4663, or fill out the online
form on our Customer Support page listed below.

Regards,
Anil M.

Heheh, the usual run-around... "conflict with their own servers".... hahahah what a crock of sh*t. How is someone's FTP server gonna conflict with anything?

Rogers indicated at the meeting with us that they are going to be vigorously enforcing their "No Servers" policy.
