Keep forgetting about this.

Between here and live journal and a few other places, I keep forgetting about this journal here.

Anyhow, Life is good, despite the fact I "lost" my job. Hmm how can anyone lose a job, I dunno. I mean as long as the company is in operation the job is still there... ahh well.

Tough times to get canned in, but no worries mate. I aint afraid of working at any job, granted it'd be nice to make what I was making at my other job, but hey money is money. 'Course I could always Billy the kid it, and make a splash on the news as they haul my dead body away, but what fun is in that. Instead, I'll look and look and look. While I apply at temp services and burger joints. Now if I was a chick, in decent shape, I'd become a stripper. But being a mid age fat guy, I can't see that happening.

Hmm.. maybe the curent government will support me lol, ya right.

Life is like a river,
always flowing, changing directions.
One day, things look like they are good.
The next day, things turn to shit.
For some, life is a short trip.
For others, it last for years.
Some are just driftwwood, drifting thru life and leaving no marks.
Others, are like a force unto themselves. After their passage, they are remembered for a long time.

Also:
I built my 1st PC, and installed windows Vista. So far after 2 months, its running great. Newegg was the source of my parts.

Got a new LCD Flat Panal Monitor.

My old monitor went on the fritz after 7 years of being on nearly 24/7. That Monitor was a Del brand Sony Trinitron.

My new monitor is a KDS LCD flat screen. Its kool.

I was checking out my Linux install when I stumbled across this site:

Its a Linux magazine for newbies. I then discorved the picture attached to this post here:

The Vanishing Me.

Back in feb. '06 I started working, after a 6 month period of not working.
I weighed 289. A few weeks on the job got me down to 277.
I decided to change up what I ate during the day. The old menu was:
4 Pop tarts [200 cals. each times 4]
1 20 oz coke [110 cals per serving times 2]
or in other words a 1 thousand cal. Breakfast.

For lunch it would be two sandwhiches and another 20 oz or larger coke.

Supper was another cal. fest.

Now:
Breakfast:
1 glass of fiber.
1 cup of dry ceral [110 calories]
1 diet coke [zero cals].

Lunch:
A single serving of cambells single serving soup [100 to 150 cals]
or 1 can of fruit [3 servings at 40 to 100 cals]
or a Salad made up at home containing no meat, no cheese, no croutons. Salad dressing is a vigeernette.
or a Healthy Choice frozen dinner [cooked of course].

Supper:
I drink water with supper, but don't watch the cal. count.

Exercise:
Walk or bike ride 1.5 miles a day. My job also requires me to stand for 8 hours [or more if I am doing over time]. Also I am doing a lot of moving while working at my position.

Goal:
I haven't really sat a goal, but it would be nice to get to 200 pounds or less.
I have been wearing my current belt for 10 plus years. It is nearing the smallest hole. A hole I put in it when I had hit 225 10 years ago.

Another goal of mine is to pass the Army PT test. I know I am not in the service anymore, but in my mind the PT serves as a fitness benchmark.

I had posted that I was considering going back into the service. I found out that I can't until I hit 200 pounds and pass the test.
So off I go

In honor.....

I was watching "SAving Private Ryan".
During the D-day invasion, I had a flashback to a few years ago as a McD's shift manager in Marrietta GA.

Just about every Sunday around 1pm an elderly gentlemen would come in. He'd place his order, 2 burgers, 2 apple pies, and a small fry. Or he'd change up and get a Big Mac, and a Cheeseburger. I got to talking to him, as it was store policy to get to know your regular customers and make them feel welcomed. After learning that he was a WW2 Vet, I gave him his food for free. He didn't like that, nut I told him ot was from one soldier to another and a Thank you for serving his country.
One day he asked me "Ever see the movie "Saving Private Ryan"?"
I said, yes.
He replied "I was there on D-day. I kept praying each step and I was doing fine. Then all the sudden the sea closed over my head and I was drowning. I had stepped into a crater. I managed to remove my equipment and ended up on the beach with a Knife and not much else. But I was alive."
After a few weeks he came in with a gleam in his eye. He asked me to follow him outside. He showed me his birthday present from his son. It was a liscense plate frame that Had his two bronze stars [service awards] on it, and the years of service.

Shortly after that 9/11 happened. He came in angry and asked me if I wanted to join him in the enlistment line. I said hell yes.. but we both realized war is for the young, politics is for the old. Shortly after that he stopped comming for a month straight. When he did come back he said he had almost died, and that he wasn't sure of how often he'd make it in. He came back regularly for about three weeks.
Then my life got busy, my mom was in the hospitail on her death bed so I had to go and let her see the grandkids. She died and we came home. I hadn't realized as to how bitter I got over her death, at least not until I without thinking quit McD's. I had worked there for nearly 3 years, and I just up and quit about a month after my mother's death. Basically I was in a funk that said Fuck it. Nothing matters because after you die, it just fades away.

So I don't know how long he continued to MvD's. I imagine he maybe dead by now. It has been some 7 or 8 years since I have worked there.

So now I just have a fading memory of him, that resurfaces from time to time during certain movies.
Saving Private Ryan and The Big Red 1.

To him and all those that have and are serving and their families...

Thank you.

I would have posted this in a forum, but the Christains might have taken offense.

I posted this here because I wanted to suggest something.
Stop being afraid to voice your opinion. So what if it offends someone. That person, if offended by something you say, should take a long look at themselves. Because a person that knows themself can't be offended by anyone.

I think hollywood should take a long look at the indie movies out there. The indie movies do things with much less money, and alot more/or less acting talent.

This started as a post in the Pub, but then I decided to ....

post it here.

Equality? That aint natural!

A few days ago I was listening to a Radio talk show host.. his name is Howie and he is broadcas from Akron Ohio.

He had mentioned how once upon a time in America, there was the truely haves and the have nots.
For example:
There were places in America were only the rich could go. Now thanks to laws and credit cards anyone can go just about anywhere. And look what happened to the former play grounds of a select few. They now have become worn down amusement parts that have litter laying all over and the sounds of angry people waiting in long lines.

Another impact of this "Everyone is equal" crap:
Such things as surcharges on utility bills. Certain surcharges are there so those that are poor, retired, can get basic utes for free. I think there is even an idea to determine that basic cable and low level broadband iternet service is a neccesity of life.
Bull crap. If you can't afford utes on your own, thing bring in roommates to help pay for utes, or get a couple of jobs so you can pay for the utes. Basic cable is not a neccessity of life, nor is broadband internet service.

Then there was a comment about how in this modern day age of Equality, all kids get toplay little league baseball, and they get a turn at the bat, until they hit the ball. In the days of old there used to be try outs [forcing the kids to actually want to play, and to play well], and three strikes you were out.

Back a few years ago, people drove what they could afford, now it seems even those just above welfare level get to drive SUVs, when it eas just those at welfare level and the rich that rode around town in a SUV [I mention this because a few people I have known have said it seems that those on welfare seemed to be able to get colored TVs before the people I knew could save enough to buy one. Granted today you can buy a TV for under 120 bucks].

IMO, we need to get rid of the craack cards [credit cards] that are freely given out like candy. We need to return to a system where Credit reports and scores meant something to the Credit card agencies [remember how hard it used to be to get an Amx green card 20 years ago?]. Now today the only reason why CC companies use credit reports is to see who the dead beats are [those that pay card off every month] vs those that carry a balance or run at least on payment behind [CC companies make more money off of these people. Late fees, service charges, higher interest rates. Hence that is why bankruptices tend to draw certain CC companies to a person, like flies to crap]. Of course for other types of Credit, like House mortgage, it is all about having a good credit report. Even car loans are starting to go the way of CCs. If you have a not so good to bad report, certain places will still give you a car loan. All you need to do is put more money down, have a job you have been employed at for 6 months and pay a higher interest rate.
So basically, the only thing a good credit report will help you on is lower interest rates on Car loans, getting a house loan, or in some cases help you get a job with an employer. Some employers pull credit reports.

Now getting back to Equality betwen the haves and the haves nots...
Change the laws and make credit cards harder to get for those making umder 30k a year. Maybe we'll have fewer debtors and our economy [meaning the dollar] will get stronger as more people get out of debt.

***End post***

What brought the above to light?
This web page here:
»mcnsite.mcn.org/dsl/fusf.html

quote:
The USF helps to make phone service affordable and available to all Americans, including consumers with low incomes, those living in areas where the costs of providing telephone service is high, schools and libraries and rural health care providers. Congress has mandated that all telephone companies providing interstate service must contribute to the USF. Although not required to do so by the government, many carriers choose to pass their contribution costs on to their customers in the form of a line item, often called the “Federal Universal Service Fee” or “Universal Connectivity Fee”."

What is next? A recovery fee on cell phones so the have nots get to have basic free cell phone service?

Debt..... or the downside of Credit card addicttion.

Wife and I are considering filing for chapt. 13 bankruptcy.
We don't want to, but the high interest rates, service charges are making it impossible to pay down cards.

In my case, a few of the cards have been "charged off". Which means they are unpaid. I have two options:
1]Do nothing to the charge offs, they will vanish in 7 years.
2]Attempt to settle the debt at a reduced amount owed.
Credit still takes a hit for charge off but the zero balance will look better then a balance.

Filing for Bankruptcy will stay on your credit hisstory for 10 years. But you'll have to check the yes box when ever applying for credit for the rest of your life.

Debt settlement services/Consolidation very. Best to shop around and put out feelers to see who is good. When it comes to getting help to deal with your debt, the help costs money as well.

Immigration......

I shudder every time I here the President of the United States utter the words "Treat them with respect and dignity".
Why should illegals be treated with respect or dignity?
Just because they preform hard manual labor jobs for very low wages? Or is it because they companies they work for are joining together to fight tougher immigration laws?
IMO, we have legal Americans that need help. We have homeless children, US veterans that need to be taken care of.
In the mountains of the eastern US we have a section of poor that is often ignored, until a disaster happens.
In the gulf coast region we have people that were ignored by nearly everyone, until Katrina hit and revealed our dirty laundry.
IMO, illegals are illegal and need to be deported. No amnesty, no worker program for them.
Any elected official that wishes to grant amnesty to the illegals, needs to be removed from office.
As for the unemployed/poor. Maybe this great modern age isn't all its cracked up to be. Think of how many jobs have been lost to a machine, that once used to be held by 16 year olds and up.
Full service gas stations, Crop planters, tenders, pickers, Lumber yard help. Now we have self serve and young men hanging out with no idea on how to remain gainfully employed. Instead they have to much spare time and get in trouble.
By removing Illegals, we once again create a source of income for our young men. Unless it is to late, and our young are to spoiled by their Mommies and Daddies, and refuse to dare get their hands dirty or callused from a honest days labour. Today's parents seem willing to give their kids Cars, cell phones, computers to their children. They fil to realize that a lesson is being ignored. The lesson is the one of value. A gift has only emotional value, and that value is soon forgotten. But when a person sweats toearn money to buy a car, he treats the car very well, much better then if the car was given to him.

Mt. Dew Code Red:
What is in my soda?

I decided to see if I can understand just what exactly is in Mt. Dew code red. I do plan on doing this for other things as well.. but decided to start off with this:

A concentrate is a form of substance which has had the majority of its base component, or solvent, removed. Typically this will be the removal of water from a solution or suspension such as the removal of water from fruit juice. The benefit of producing a concentrate is that of a reduction in weight and volume for transportation as the concentrate can be re-constituted at the time of usage by the addition of the solvent.

In biochemistry, it is important as an intermediate in the citric acid cycle and therefore occurs in the metabolism of almost all living things. It also serves as an environmentally benign cleaning agent and acts as an antioxidant.

It is chiefly used as a food additive, usually for flavor or as a preservative. Sodium citrate gives club soda both its sour and salty flavors. Sodium citrate is common in lemon-lime soft drinks, and it is partly what causes them to have their sour taste.

Brominated vegetable oil is used as an emulsifier in citrus-flavored soft drinks such as Mountain Dew to help natural citrus flavors stay suspended in the drink. The bromine is mixed with the vegetable oil so that it will have a density identical to the water in the drink.
Consuming BVO leaves traces in body fat; it is unclear whether these traces pose any health risk. Many people fear that BVO is harmful, but there have been few scientific studies to demonstrate this. In one case, reported in the New England Journal of Medicine on 8 May 2003 , a man who drank eight liters of Ruby red Squirt daily had a reaction that caused his skin color to turn red and produced lesions diagnosed as bromoderma. The excessive quantities together with the fact that the man had an higher than normal sensitivity to bromine, made this an unusual case.

Wish the mods had a standard set of rules.

Between here and work, I get a tad twisted. At work its because the work I do has to pass inspection. What is passed by one inspector may be failed by another. Because the job fails to have a set standard for the inspectors to follow. I mentioned it to my boss, and he told the inspector's boss.
So now they are working on a set standard, and my work is being judged ok. Mainly there is a tolerance problem with a peice I work with. Other the years the part had been allowed to increase in length, but the space it had to fit into remained the same. So know everyone is on the same sheet of music.

which brings us back here to the Mods.
Some will let you use any words you want, like piss, shit, fuck, masterbate [as if that is a bad function or word. I feel like a certain Surgeon General getting censored for using it], and other language. Then there are those mods that will attack such language because they deem it offensive.
So what is the standard for all the forums? Swearing allowed or not allowed?
Must all posts have a "Praise Jesus" in them?
Must the posts be "Care Bearish" full of cuddly meaningless Bull crap?
Or can the post contain normal everyday language?
I mean in my censored post, I wasn't attacking anyone. I understand that attacking a person is a no-no.
Funny how in some posts jerking off/masterbation/jilling off is ok, but in others its not.
Maybe there should be an age restricted forum, so all the minors under 18 can't get in and us old folks can let our hair down and shoot the shit.

Knowing my luck, this entry may get censored.
Just it in case:
"Praise Jesus" "Read the bible" "Go to church for your weekly brainwashing worship"

Out till next time.

And now a word from our sponsers

Thing Fish. What is it? If you have to ask, then you've either forgotten or never heard of Frank Zappa. He was a good musican, but also a fighter against government intrusion into the content of music.

1,000 Fires. A decent sounding CD. It had a song featured in the movie Mortal Combat. The vocalist for the songs is none other than Traci Lords.

and our 3rd sponser is... well we don't have one.

Any how keep your eyes on te road ahead as your mind travels the road of your past.

IM attack from nowhere

I received the attached IM message from this person. Why the attack, i have no idea. I am still waiting for a reply as well, but we know how cowards are. They sting, then run away.

I removed the IM so as not to offend any mods.
But I still await a response from the coward IxAstrosxl.
But I know he wont respond as his kind only like to attack when no one is watching.

Moist tasty way to cook meat

I discorved a cool thing [took me long enough!]
Take a baking dish line it with foil. Next take your seasoning of choice and put a little on the foil. Now your meat of choice [chicken, pork, beef]. Now close up the foil. Place in preheated oven [450 degrees] for about an hour.
Now take out and toss on grill for about 3 minutes each side [to give it char taste].

Tender moist grilled flavored meat...

Time to get Dirty.

I am getting a tad upset. Since moving to ohio, I have been forced to listen to conservative talk radio. When I lived in Atlanta, GA, I listened to Neal Boortz.

Anyhow, here is what is pissing me off:

1]Abortion. These people think that they have the right to control what a woman does to her body. My opinon on abortion is: I don't like it if it is used for birth control. Now to get rid of a baby/fetus created by rape, then fine. But [getting back to my opinion] Its not my concern as long as the fetus being killed has none of my genetic materail. If it was my wife or mistress having an abortion, then we both had better have been involved in that discussion.
Anyhow... Abortion, there should be no law against it.

Ok so now we move from Abortion to homosexuals, or as those on conservative radio call them filthy godless sodomites.

I bet if we could go back in time, to the time when Americans fought shoulder to shoulder against the British, there would be find some gay men on either side in the midst of battle. Some fighting for independene, some against. Now if we could leap forward to every war, I bet we'd find some gay men fighting in the same wars as hetro's.
Now lets look at the times inbetween the wars. I bet we would see gay men running business, schools, farms. They'd be paying taxes and all that. Granted they may have had to have been more discrete with their sexual orientation, then now, but I bet they were still there.

Now:
Everyone in this country is supposed to have the same rights as everyone else. Reguardless of income, education, race, religon. The only thing missing from that, maybe because the fonding fathers never thought it to be an issue, is sexual preferance.
Right now homo's don't have the same protections or rights [well maybe protections] as hetros.
A few examples:
A lesbo couple have a child. The birth mother dies. The parents of the birthmom, sue for custody. The court grants the grand parents custody of the child. Even though many had said how much the parents of the birth mom hated her being gay and never went to see their grand child.

Another case:
A gay man was dying in the hospitail. His parents, who never came to see him while he was healthy, had the hospitail refuse his lover access to their dying son.
The couple had been together for over ten years.

By giving acknowledgement that homosexuals couples play a role in our soceity like hetro couples do, things like the above could be avoided.

religon in Public schools:
NO, hell no. If people feel kids should learn religon or creation then they should send their kids to a religon run private school, or sunday school. Sure you can talk about the impact religon has had on mankind through out history.
Make sure that it shows how religon really isn't a good idea as a form of government [don't beleive me, look at Europes dark ages, look to the middle east now].

I ranted and rambled enough....

Diner...

This is for 4 people:

half pound steak, cut into squares.
quater to half pound of shrimp.
1 small onion chopped into chunks.
1 Green pepper choppedinto chunks[or any color].
1 small can of pineapple chunks.
1 jar of sweet and sour sauce.
1 cup of Rice.

Cook the steak, until just turning brown in the middle.
Add Sauce and veggies, cook for about 5 minutes to soften them.
Reduce heat, toss in shrimp, let cook 1 minute. Remove from heat and let rest.

For the rice, cook it at least two hours before the rest of the food. You want it to get a little dry. Next toss some EVO [Extra virgin olive oil] into a fry pan and heat it up.
Now toss rice into fry pan, and stir until it starts browning, then toss in the above sweet and sour mixture.
