If you want to disable the whole proxy thing go into internet options and click on the connections tab then lan. Uncheck every box in there

elusionPremium join:2001-10-25 Scarborough, ON | reply to elva lover A proxy keeps track of the pages users visit the most, and then store these pages locally to increase loading speeds. Without a proxy server, your modem goes directly to the internet, with a proxy, it goes to the proxy then the internet, a proxy is also used for security reasons, such as masking your ip. -- In the game of Broadband, you always loose when you go the Rogers route.I'm not Canadian :P |

ExitPremium,ExMod 2002 join:2001-04-10 Canada | reply to elva lover Most ISP's use proxy servers to keep their cost's down. If you have to download the same file from a server 50 times why not put it on your own server where you don't have to pay for external network bandwidth. If they don't have to pay their backbone for the bandwidth then it saves them money. If Rogers setup their servers correctly it would and should make your downloads and page views faster

The person wanted to disable proxy, because IE kept detecting proxy.
