Flashcom/Covad Brooklyn NY Busted Weekend

hello folks. i don't know how many people have flashcom/covad, but mine was molasses all weekend, and the same the friday before as well. one of my main beefs is that there is no way of knowing when service will be resumed, nor whether there is a break in service on account of my computer, my wiring, etc. or if it is a system-wide outage. no tech support on weekends, and of course, the telephone support number is impossible to get through today, monday.

so, while the bankruptcy continues, covad continues to run the lines. how about covad putting up a service up/service down phone line...even on an answering machine at their offices...they don't have an answering machine there.

i've heard someone will buy the flashcom contracts, but when this will happen, who knows, and what will the service be like there.

anyone else in this boat and have any ideas. i've considered going to another service like acedsl or verizon, but i like the covad dedicated line. plus having to have verizon as my local carrier isn't something i'd like to do.

please leave ideas, etc. and have a good day, eh...

Yea, I had problems this weekend too but I called my provider just now and they said they haven's heard of any problems in the Queens area so the problem might be on my end. I'm gonna check my "inside wiring" when I get home later. I hope it stops snowing, lol. By the way, my provider is Evolving Edge. Their service and cust. support is great but I dont think they are taking any more orders for DSL.

I see you live in NY. Is OOL available in your area? That is a great service.

I've got Flashcom/Covad in Park Slope. I was away this weekend tho, so I couldn't tell you if there was a slow down.

If Flashcom releases me will I get to take my IP addresses with? I've got a few fire wall configurations set to permit by IP...

IP address are Flashcom's property through the ARIN. So basically, no. If you move houses, do you get to have the same address, city, state, and zip code? No. Looks like you will have to go through your firewall again and sort it all out . Good luck to you as well as all of us who have to suffer.
