Jacob join:2000-11-28 San Jose, CA | Current speeds, for those of us covad slaves Hi all-
I was wondering what your current speeds are compared to what you are supposed to. I'm signed up for 608/128: -- ** Speed 472(down)/81(up) kbps ** (At least 8 times faster than a 56k modem) --
Also to state that it is not my line that is the trouble, my router says that my line can go up to the max. limit (like 8 megs down; 2 up,)
Too bad there isn't a way for us all (flashcom incl.) to be happy. -- "The one who dies with the most ram wins." |

Anon | As you are now virtually alone in a sea of available bandwidth, I must conclude that the problem lies either within your internal wiring or within the Covad network. I'll throw out a guess that someone in your neighborhood recently got ISDN or a T-1. Just a guess.
This is not an attempt to shift blame from Flashcom, however; it is a fact that we have not made any fundamental changes to your service in months and bandwidth availability has been increasing as customers have been moved off the Flashcom network.
1) I suggest you send an email to DSLSupport@flashcom.com. Request that a trouble ticket be opened on your line and that you be provided with a trouble ticket number.
2) Check the flashcom website and if your service is scheduled for transition, simply wait until such time as you are on with the new provider and troubleshoot if necessary.
Just a thought

Just out of curiousity, does anybody read those emails? I have had an open trouble ticket, #1-NKOUX, for quite sometime now. I have sent email to the address above for status and had no response. I have posted a question on the Covad forum to see if I could get help but there is not much they can do until Flashcom provides them my information. I am apparently suffering from line degradation which becomes most noticable when the temperature outside drops below 32 degrees F.
BTW, email addresses are no longer provided on your website! If you check »www.flashcom.com/contact_info01.htm you will see there are no hyperlinks or addresses for e-mail contacts.

| reply to Anon Thanks Curtis, but every time I actually get through to open a trouble ticket, it gets closed because they tried to ask covad, yet covad can't even contact flashcom during business hours!
Like I said in my original post, my wiring is as clear as can be. I can talk to the dslam of over 8mb down/ 1.75-2 mb up. IT never changes dramatically. Over the past 3 months, it has been slowly decreasing. 3 months ago I was 560/117
My neighbor gets 1.4/356 on his 1.5/384 with speakeasy/covad.
Also, if there is a huge sea of unused bandwidth, can you guys donate a little more to us if we are way below?
The reason why I posted this topic is because I heard that several people are being slowed down, which is usually the isp's fault. I just wanted to explain some things .
Thanks! [text was edited by author 2001-02-08 15:23:52] |

Jacob join:2000-11-28 San Jose, CA | reply to n2jtx I aplologize: here is what my router says as of an hour ago. I am synced with the dslam at 608/128. I can get 2.763636/853.33. I thought it was higher before.

n2jtx join:2001-01-13 Glen Head, NY | Can you post the results of a simple "show" command? I am curious what version of the 5260 firmware you have. I do not get ATU-C reports on my DSLSTATUS command. I have an April 2000 version of the 5260 firmware.

| L O L!!!!!!!
I have a bastard 5260. This means that it was a 5660, but efficient didn't have enough 5260's, so they took the ROUTER 5660 and downgraded the firmware.
So I upgraded the firmware - it really is a 5660 router running in bridge mode, because I can't get it to work in route mode because my flashcom circuit is configured as a bridge circuit. If any insider will switch my circuit to route mode, I would be in heaven, since my 5660 has so many more features in route mode. (Please?!?!!! cbenton?)
»A really really quick FAQ = Convert 5260 to 5660
I have a rev. 1.7 and the firmware was like feb. 2000. Works great! [text was edited by author 2001-02-08 17:04:48] |
