Re: 5360 wan port issues? (prob interfacing w/routers)

Well, nevermind, I have part no. 060-5360-123... it stills does the same thing, but no upgrade available... should I at least try a crossover cable?

You want to be plugging into the WAN port, and you don't want to use a crossover cable. Have you, also, checked the DNS settings?

To people who are having problems with cheap routers, sometimes, you get what you pay for. People who spend less than $75 on a Belkin, D-Link, or other cheap broadband router WILL have issues. Linksys is fine until you try to manage outgoing traffic.

I'm using a straight-through cable now. Also, I have tried setting it up with and without the dns settings in the router, and still nothing...

I'm very frustrated... The barricade worked great with my cable modem...

I figured out when I ping "www.yahoo.com", nothing happens, but when I ping an IP address, I get back 100% return.

Looks like my DNS is hosed - I tried both "automatic" and the "manual" DNS entries. Still something is hosed and I cannot connect.

I'm sure you mentioned this somewhere but I'm too lazy to read....what os? and anything else besides the modem? some routers you have to manually configure DNS on the router DNS on the computer will sometimes not work....also what DNS you using?

Please use this thread here »BEFSR41 and Efficient 5360

This is not a 5360 problem since it is a bridge unit and blindly passes all data to either a router or a PPPoE client on your PC. This is a Linksys problem.

Is there a recommendation for a router that works well with a Efficient 5360
or
a modem that supports PPPoE and works well with the linksys BEFSR41

Thanks,

Mantra

all bridges support anything, like doc olds said it passes traffic blindly. Are you forcing your dns on the router or on the pcs?

Thank you very much. It works!

To summarize,

if you are using a Efficient 5360 with a Linksys BEFSR41 WITH Prodigy DSL service (through Pacbell hardware), 1 or more of the DNS servers (mentioned by CCCMTech) should be explicitly defined in the router DNS table.

Perhaps, someone out there can catalog this as part of a FAQ.

Thanks,

I believe it is in the SBC FAQs in the pacbell or swbell forums...
