 | Flashcom is overbilling me! Help! Anyone know how I can get back the $500 Flashcom owes me due to overbilling? To make a long story short, I moved to a new home last March and had my DSL transferred to the new house. However, starting last summer, they starting billing me for my OLD service at my OLD house on top of my NEW service at my NEW house. I called several times to straighten it out, and was told they were going to refund me my money in a week. And now, if I call, their phone system either plays keeps you on hold for 20 minutes and THEN tells you they can't take your call because of call volume (LONG distance call to top it off) OR the message tells you to call back later due to call volume. At this point, I might as well dispute the charges with my CC company?? Any suggestions?? I'm afraid that if I tell my company to refuse their charges they will cancel my DSL service which is actually running quite nicely through Covad.
Sorry for the long post. |

You should try to dispute your credit card. If they won't let you, you might have to get a new cc number. It's up to you if you want to take the risk, but unless you actually call up and cancel the account, I doubt they will shut you off (even though I might be wrong).
If you ever get through, you can try to work some things out again, or just cancel. They are cancelling for free now (at least that's the offer I was presented with).
Good luck! |

It's very important you don't delay in doing this. I learned this the hard way when I tried to get a bogus $700 charge reversed from some vendor I had never heard of. The company assured me over and over they would reverse it. When I finally contacted my credit card company, they told me that after six months there was nothing they could do to help me. If I had just contact them sooner it would have reversed.
Some credit card companies have only a four month window to report something instead of six. So I repeat, contact them immediately to get this contested charge documented. Even if don't contest it right away, you need to have it documented. |

Get them back Dude, If you where to loose your credit card.. you can report it stolen. Therefore, Flashcom ass#%@%@ will be unable to charge you for it since they will be using the old number which is no longer valid. Works everytime.
Regards, Good luck! |

Re: Flashcom is overbilling me! Help! Whoa whoa whoa, You canceled for free? What did you do, what did you say? How much longer did you have left on your contract?

Why should I cancel a free service? Btw, I have a contract until June -- "The one who dies with the most ram wins." |

 | reply to mattnj To protect your rights as a consumer (blort) you must file a dispute of the specific charges in writing with your credit card within 60 days of the charge (check your CC agreement, mileage may vary). In addition, you must show a good faith effort to resolve the dispute with the billing party. Most of the time your CC company will go to bat for you, put the credit on your account, and get in line with the other creditors to the offending party. Oh, and keep those interest rates high to cover the costs. |
