 | IE-SPYAD & AGNIS Lists Updated (Oct. 19) Hi All:
This is getting silly. One week ago (10/12) I updated all of my block lists. Now, just seven days later, I've already got a boatload of new spyware. Some folks just don't quit, do they?
IE-SPYAD (the IE Restricted zone list) and AGNIS (the AtGuard/NIS ad block list) have been updated again. The AGNIS for Outpost block lists have also been updated. You can download all of these new versions at:
Included with IE-SPYAD is an uninstaller (IE-ADS-UNINST.REG) for the *previous* version of IE-SPYAD. Look in the \OLD sub-dir of the IE-SPYAD installation directory after you unpack IE-SPYAD. IE-SPYAD also includes an uninstaller (IE-ADS-UNINST.REG) for the *current* version of IE-SPYAD in the main installation directory. You can distinguish between these uninstallers by the file dates.
If you have any questions or comments about IE-SPYAD, AGNIS, or AGNIS for Outpost, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Best,

 | reply to eburger68 The spyware crew has been busy lately, indeed. Prolivation is one of the most annoying hijackers I've ever seen, for example, I hope it's in the list. Good job, Eric. -- Mors Principium Est. |

| reply to eburger68 Hi All:
It's 7:30 am Sat. Oct. 19, and it appears that there's some problem with the University of Illinois' servers. This happens occasionally -- usually on the weekends, usually early in the mornings, esp. when they're doing maintenance of some sort. I can't access my own pages or the home pages of others here at UIUC. There's really nothing I can do about it (I'm not a sysadmin here at UIUC).
Give it a while. It all usually comes back in a few hours.
Best,
Eric L. Howes [text was edited by author 2002-10-19 08:31:51] |

cjsmithPremium join:2000-11-03 Villa Rica, GA | reply to eburger68 No problem Pete. I suppose that Eric hadn't seen my upload.
I have just downloaded the files a few hours ago had them placed by themselves as they were unscathed.
Kind regards. |

Oh, that's fine -- a good idea in fact. I doubt the U of I's servers will be down for long (from past experience), but for those who want IE-SPYAD, it's now available here. Thanks.

cjsmithPremium join:2000-11-03 Villa Rica, GA | This is both funny and odd as I had never had trouble with U of I's servers before. I suppose I am not at your web pages enough? |

 | reply to eburger68 Thanks for providing such great tools and info, Eric. I love your site and have been using IE-Spyad (and smartin's host file) for a couple of years. Good info in the response to Langa, btw. |

 | reply to eburger68 Hi All:
It looks like the U of I's servers have started to behave again. Not sure what time they came back online, but the updates are available once again from the usual web page.
Best,
