joepwpb : Thanks for the reply...

I have disabled the firewall and I still lost 50% of my normal upload speed. The only reason I am looking at the firewall is that the only change I made recently was the installation of McAfee Firewall 4. I thought that once I disable the firewall the issue would be resolved. So, if it is the firewall causing the problem then the issue is in an area that I'm not familiar with.

Eventually I will uninstall the firewall to determine for sure if it is the culprit. For now I am going to hold off in the hope that someone visiting this forum can help.

Joe P

joepwpb : The reason why I titled this loss of upload speed "strange" is that it only occurs on my Win 98 partition. (I am running three OS's) My upload and download speeds have been remarkably consistent for the past two years. The only ("only") change I made was to install McAfee 4.0 Firewall on the 98 partition. (No, I am not a fan of this product but I needed to "take it for a spin"!). Could this program be the culprit? If yes, then why would it only effect the upload?

Thanks

Joe P
