Good times.

However I was suggesting this for wheelz_off. He had intermittent problems. I figured your problem was identified and on the way to a cure already.

If he had your gateway, he would run

ping -t 12.238.198.1

The purpose would be to see if he sees sequences of lost packets that coincides with his slow response times.

I don't lose any packets, everything but the upload is ok, it's weird.

What do you think is the problem?
I also don't understand why they told me it would take 24-48 hours to see any improvement in my upload speed.
I would think that once they gave me the new configuration file,I would see instant results...?

I wish I knew what it was so I could tell them, they obviously don't know or just don't want to fix it since as we know, they don't guarantee speeds. I tell them it's not the speed that is the problem, the upload stops and starts all the time, and they basically tell me it's a YP and move on.

I_h8_aol:

Can you upload a file to your web space to check something? When I upload a file it will send then stop over and over, is that what you're seeing as well?

Just did some tests at 4 am and received AWESOME upstream speeds, maybe due to the fact it's 4 am on Christmas morning, but hey, at least I know the problem isn't mine, (which I knew the whole time btw ). I don't feel like arguing with Attbi until after new years though, they probably don't want to fix anything until then anyway.

Its me again from Allen,Tx. As far as the "results in 24-48 hours" goes, Ive been promised that by AT&T at least 5 different times. The latest is when I made a final complaint to tech sup and they offered to have a team investigate each of the "9"!!! different ticket numbers because they had been closed by the upper level networking dept without any results. Results of the investigation (again) promised in 24-48 hours. That was over a week ago. Im not expecting a call.

Wheels, I think you hit it on the head, they have their upload side being over used (due to peak fluctuations) and are not willing to upgrade. The "We dont guar..." is just the butt saving line in their contract. They can ping me all day long and get good times, but as soon as you try to upload to my site or play online games (the reason I got cable) the advertised "high speed broadband" looses its luster.

I have a feeling we wont see results anytime soon, and all they are hoping for is for everyone to continue paying.

I agree with you. One week later and nothing has changed. LOL, as soon as the sun goes down my upload speed disappears. Weekends and holidays are just bad altogether.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse…

2002-12-27 00:35:04 EST: 1698 / 19
Your download speed : 1698849 bps, or 1698 kbps.
A 207.3 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 19617 bps, or 19 kbps.
Your upstream result was very slow! .. not good
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

Sorry, I've never used the ATTBS web space, but any uploads I do usually go up and down.

I just got off the phone with tech support, according the person i talked to, they never heard of the problem with great download speeds and horrible upload speed. He couldn't understand how that could be possible.

The speed is fine actually, when it is sending it's going at th full 30k/sec, but when it stops and starts it kind of makes anything that uses upstream a bit difficult.

Not nearly as bad as it was a few weeks ago, but still not good. I know it's possible to get good speeds here 24/7. Until November I had those great speeds 24/7, that's all I want back.

Ok, tonight it's the worst it has been in awhile, my dad couldn't even play Madden online with ps2, usually it's fine. Guess I'll try and talk to support, can't wait for the "there are no problems in your area" response. To the others that were having this problem, are you still experiencing it?

Gotta love those speeds for $50/month, I'm off, wish me luck that I talk to a competent person.

I'm in Colleyville, and I rarely have any problems with upload speeds. I checked it about 15 minutes ago, and my numbers were around 1750/247.

I just now talked to tech support and my upstream was around 30kbps before I talked to them, I start a chat with them and it's in the 150's and they say its not bad and cant help, come back when it's below 80kbps is what the guy said, grrrr. I have a feeling my upstream will never be at the cap 24/7 again.
