To those in the 5% category

For those few that live in an area with competition, let the rest of us know what it's like. Can you switch cable companies easy if you're not satisfied with the service that's offered?

I switched from comcast to Wide Open West (WOW) this past summer. I had no problems switching, WOW came out and installed within a few days, and I've had no trouble since. Of course mailings from comcast have increased, but I'd expect that. They (comcast) tried to bill me for an extra month, but beyond that, the switch went without incident.

In 'Greater' Annapolis, there's no competition available - but in the fringes, Millenium Cable serves many areas, including where we bought our house a couple years ago (and we didn't realize that at the time).

They serve a few odd areas, mostly out west. Check to see if in yours!
Our Comcast bills had been rising steady for the past years - we had Extended Basic, HBO 1&2, and Showtime 1&2. No cable internet - use DSL for that.
When our last bill hit $60, it was the last straw. Called MDM they gave us Extended Basic, HBO 1/2, Showtime 1/2, Cinemax 1/2, and Starz for $40 a month for 1 year.
The only thing we're missing is TechTV, but I can live without.
Hardest part is learning the new channels. Otherwise, it did take a few weeks for them to run the line from the box on the other side of the street to our house (had to get a permit to go underground), but I was in no rush.
So now, more channels, better cable box, better reception, better service....all for $20 a month LESS than Comcast.
Competition is good.

Yes people with WideOpenWest have no problems in life. Their lives are perfect and have no right to complain about anything ever.
