Basic Cable Now MORE than DTV Total Choice Plus

I got my Internet Bill today with the BS line about why they are raising rates...

Basic Cable goes from $38.31 to $41.30
HBO +$1.00.. others are +$0.50
Digital Cable Gold (150 channels) $76.95 to $81.95

All prices above do not include all the BS fees they charge like REMOTE CONTROL RENTAL, Cable Box rental etc.

Lets see, I pay $39.99 (no tax, fees etc) for over 130 digital channels.

I am so glad I dumped Cable TV. Funny how they blame all the increases on the "cost of programming" when dish providers don't increase prices near as often. I guess the networks, etc don't increase the rates for Sat companies.

Let me add, that I live in an Apt, and my dish is INSIDE. Here is roughly what I did... The Plexiglass only costs me a few signal points. I get about a 85-88 signal. (60 is locked)

Actually, the networks tend to try and charge satellite companies MORE then they charge their cable affiliates...

Cable Internet access is like the "License to Screw" monopoly rip-em-hard provision. You see, if it was just TV, and they jacked rates, soon Echostar and DTV would be in control....

... but... If your internet access is via cable, well, then, you can't switch to Dish nearly as easily... and they know it.

It used to be a $5 difference between TV and non TV customers. Now I think it is $15.

However, considering I am getting Digital TV for less than HALF of what I would have to pay for with Comcast, DTV and paying the extra for Internet alone is still well worth it. And with these increases, Basic Cable will be around $45 including all the taxes, fees, etc, so DTV and Cable Internet is about $10 more than Basic Cable TV + Cable Internet.

But yes, it is pretty obvious that Comcast is trying their best to discourage people from going to Sat by jacking up the non-TV customer Internet price.
