friday7 join:2002-10-30 Mansfield, OH | sports costs are rising I think cable rates come under the same principles of a free economy as the riaa, sports stadiums and airlines. Airlines only charge half what a ticket cost and rely on the government for the rest. The stadiums that were torn down in recent years could have been given a special coat of epoxy and been fine considering most were just a big rock that needed to be thrown in a local lake and such to make room for the new parking lot. The networks claim they are losing their shirts at sports costs now so i look for espn and other sports channels to start costing as much as hbo and other premium services. A high percentage of cable programing is sports so i would think that as beer advertising dries up(or is outlawed)and city and state funds diminish then it will fall to the cable companies to pay the bill the same way the missing half of airline fares get paid. I dont know how many millions the average players make now,not counting revenue from shopping centers and such, but it cant be near enough next year. I dont think internet connections should be included in the increase if that is the main increased cost. |
