| Necessary? No. Useful? Yes. I didn't have the internet when I was a kid. I got on the internet for the first time back in college in 1994. Maybe it was me, but while students shunned the internet then, I took it in. I spent time learning how it worked and using it. It was amazing the things you could find out while on it. My senior year I was doing term papers and such off information I found on the web.
My brother is a freshman in college now. He has been doing papers and learning things off the internet since high school. His knowledge on computers and the internet at this point in his life has gone far beyond mine at that age. He wants to do work in the computer industry as well.
I guess my stance on the internet is it isn't a necessity to most people. To me, I need to have it because my job revolves around it and the more I learn the better I am. When you learn how to use the internet, you can find a lot of information. The problem you get into is the fact that the internet is huge. Some people can't navigate it properly. -- My Domain Nightfall's Hockey and Life Journal |
