Hello people, have you not read the news or gotten e-mails from DTV. They are getting out of the DSL business and you need to switch !!! Are you in denial or something ?? -- -= Mindspring MaxDSL via Covad 1536/384 TeleSurfer Pro =- |

| A lot of people are in line release limbo, not to mention that DTV's distance limits were higher for DSL than most ILEC's. So a lot of people who could get DTV (because the ILEC was forced to provide the unbundled line) can't qualify for line sharing DSL. -- "Freedom of speech doesn't protect speech you like, it protects speech you don't like." --Larry Flynt |

the only reason I am still on Dtv is cause my cyberonic dsl doesn't work yet, and i have two phone lines. |

 | reply to Hall I can tell you why I haven't turned off my DirecTV DSL service.
Verizon is my local CLEC. I tried to provision another DSL provider (not Verizon) and verizon refused to allow the other provider to place the order until such time as the "line was cleared". This means I have to cancel the service and wait a week, then I can provision with another non-Verizon provider.
Of course, no one would guarantee that I could actually get DSL from them if I were to cancel. So I choose to stay connected to DirecTVDSL until the last moment, wait a week and reprovision with someone else. If I can't get DSL from someone else, then at least I'll have had the DirecTV DSL for the maximum time. According to DirecTV's customer web site, it may continue to operate ("in my area") until as late as 28 Feb.
