What they really mean

What they really mean is: we're still happily *billing* 71,000 customers. I was hotswapped January 16 and have been with Cyberonic for 14 days and was expecting a refund from DTV DSL for the two weeks I had already paid.

Instead, they charged my credit card for February. This on the same day they announce that their network is finally shutting down. Now I have to go through the hassle of disputing.

Needless to say, there's no phone number to call.
If they don't send an invoice for February, I can't even submit the required material to the credit card company.

I suppose what you have to do these days is get a credit card for every DSL provider, and cancel the card as soon as you hear the provider goes out of business.

You got that right!

I requested and received a disconnection of DTV service effective Jan. 2 and I still have not gotten a credit for January services.

You will evenutally be credited...while they're taking their sweet time in getting those credits out (it's all automated), even if there are disputes, the satellite side will take over those billing disputes.
