| Re: [Cool!] 4.4.2 IN ATLANTA!! :-) This new firmware push has to do with a new man in charge at AT&T. He knows who he is. The former director of Broadband Services was laid off (nice guy too!). The current Broadband Services guy has hooked us up! Thanks you know who you are! [text was edited by author 2003-01-31 20:45:29] |

 | reply to Holyearth I finally got mine updated on my own since they are obviously never going to do our area. Thank god too because no more lockups in the places I had them before woohooo! -- -Fingerprint- Vincat veritas, libertas ipsaMember of the EFF |

 | Here in Grand Rapids, MI i've been on 4.4.2-NOSH for awhile and now I expierence lock ups a lot, where it'll look like it's tranferring packets via the LED but for about 15-20 seconds every few minutes I lose the connection, doesn't happen all that often but seems to be between 6:30-7:30pm EST every day |

Easiest way is to power-cycle your modem. Then go into the modem's diagnostics pages and look at the logs to see what version of firmware you got. |

| reply to BoostFrenzy I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing the GR lockup problem. It's fricking ridiculous. Anyone got any idea what it is or how to fix it? It got better for a couple of weeks for me, but tonight for example it's been awful. Unless they have some sort of network upgrade issues/virus/etc. that's inexcusable in my book. Don't advertise things like "cable modem...always on!" if you're going to have these sort of problems. Occasional outages for 1/2 hour are even more understandable than this sort of thing.
Of course I work in IT and don't know how to get to my modem diagnostic page so what do I know
Edit: Never mind, figured out how to get to the config page...that was easy. Still doesn't explain flaky service. Of course I have a SB3100. Does that matter? You all seem to be talking about the 4200.

 | reply to Holyearth I updated my firmware by following the instructions here »www.your-site.com/~danboyil/attbi.html with this little tweak added on by nlzom. I didn't feel like waiting any longer for them to get around to our area.
"The way I got it to work was to use 12.242.16.8 and then in the tftp server software I clicked on "show dir" and it updated.I also disabled XP's firewall while doing this." -- -Fingerprint- Vincat veritas, libertas ipsaMember of the EFF |
