Re: Can I have a wireless network with BellSouth DSL? I was a directv customer as well. I loved it! I never knew how much value I was getting until their service was gone.
I am a Bell customer now as well (no choice) with similar setup. The westell dsl modem actually handles your PPPoE for you. Your username and password are entered into the memory of the modem. It will log you in on demand. However, if you ever change your account password, you will have to change it in the modem as well. Setup your service with 1 computer connected to the westell. Once you get that straight, connect the router to the westell and configure the router to obtain IP & DNS dynamically. Do not use PPPoE on the router - it doesn't see any of that since it is handled on the modem. You will notice performance is slow. Also, I had trouble viewing some secure connections (hotmail). I worked with netgear. We had to download the new firmware and tweak the MTU settings. However, I am still unable to view some websites. Anyone got an answer for that?
