Re: Can I have a wireless network with BellSouth DSL? As pointed out above, it depends mostly on how your modem is set up. My only encounter with EnterNet (what a piece of crap!) was visiting at my sister's in Belgium, where her ISP is Skynet and she connects via an Alcatel SpeedTouch home modem. I just plugged my travel router (a linksys NR041 these days) into her modem, selected PPPoE, entered her Skynet login and password, and we were in business. Now, if the modem is configured to handle the PPPoE connection, that would not work of course, and I'm not sure what to do there. But if you have to run EnterNet, and manually start your connection via EnterNet, and the EnterNet configuration contains your login and password, it probably means that your modem is not doing this negotiation and so a simple router setup as above should work. The beauty of it is that you can then ignore EnterNet--no longer need it. |
