dns on modems each modem group can have their own dns config. typically each market has assigned dns servers and a domain name.
the parameters are loaded into the cable modem, your PC as a dhcp client takes whatever the modem give it.

Ive tried setting the computer to auto get an ip when booting to see if my IP had been changed and me not notified when packet loss was so bad. it couldnt get an IP. are they using dhcp on the modems in any market?. mine has been static since i got it. |
