I'm sure you and I could both agree that if this indeed was true, another cable provider might provide better service. Given what I said above, I still assert that this commission will in the end be yet another unnecessary branch of government which doesn't do anything.
We've got the statistics to show that we have a serious problem. Our council voted for it so that means they agreed with the severity of the problem and the need for a solution. Montgomery County would be very happy to sign more franchises. In fact, Starpower has a franchise with MC. Unfortunately, they kinda ran out of money and, although they still operate, serve a small fraction of the county.
So your alternative of encouraging competition is something we've tried very hard to do. It just hasn't worked out. |
