inTulsa : I was thinking about heat buildup in your router, not modem. But from your other description it doesn't sound like that kind of problem now. You shouldn't have to power-cycle the DSL modem to get reconnected.

Since there seems to be a slight variance when using/not using the router, is it set to be Pingable? Maybe (just guessing) the DSL service cuts you off for failure to answer PING if it thinks you're offline. When you get disconnected, are they reissuing your prev IP to someone else and giving you a different one? Does the disconnect seem to be tied to a DHCP renew event?

Zoz0 : Yes the renew IP (auto-reconnect) feature is on... also no it's not under anything or what not... it's on it's side (the 5260's have a built in stand for that).

But get this, when it does lose connection I don't lose sync on the modem and I CAN'T reconnect through the router unless I power cycle. When i take the router out of the picture the connect does seem to work better but i stil do get disconnects... but in that instance i lose sync and then it comes back and i have to relog in, SBC DSL is PPPoE btw, but the interesting thing there is sometimes I have to power cycle the modem again before i can reconnect (this is without the router too) I'm beginning to suspect the modem itself to be honest.

Zoz0 : Love the effect that the amit firmware had on my connection... did wonders for speed and such but now i have another issue and in fact the one I originally upgraded the firmware for...

I run SBC dsl and ever since around January I haven't been able to get the router to run consistently on the DSL service. Now i've just about exhausted everything I know of... (even had a tech check the line) nothing is apparently wrong with the connection... NOTHING. My modem is about the only link I haven't been able to confirm yet but I'm beginning to suspect it... My M2 light will go off and yet all lights on modem will remain steady... reading the logs tells me the connection has dropped yet I not ONCE lose sync on the modem.

I also can't get re-connected unless I power cycle everything regarding the connection. My modem is an efficient speedstream 5260 (060-5262-006)has anyone seen anything else like this?
