Sprint 642M firmware upload - Ouch!

I was advised to post here and I hope there might be users of the same model I have problems with. I already posted for help in the and Sprint FastConnect group and Zyxel group, where I found out that I'm not alone stuck with this problem (please, read this thread):

»Sprint 642M firmware problem...

The modem has "Sprint 642M" at the front, on the bottom sticker "SP-642ME ADSL modem-bridge", and under this sticker (I peeled it off) "Zyxel ADSL Bridge Prestige 642M-11".

Original firmware was 2.50(AQ.0). I couldn't connect to my new ISP (I'm still on my 33.6k dial-up) so I tried to change the firmware. I tried several versions but every time I received:
"Wrong product firmware!! 255
Please upgrade the newest firmware version!!"
After uploading version AV.3 I'm unable to change to upload ANY new firmware, including AQ.0 (found on the web) but I can upload configuration file (rom).

I can only connect using serial port. Web interface never worked. Telnet worked before but not now. I can navigate only through command interpreter of which I know almost nothing; regular user interface doesn't work anymore.

Is there any way I can reset (clear) the present firmware? I opened the case and there are two pins (regular little jumper would probably fit on them).

I know little about DSL so I'd appreciate any suggestion.
