Richardson, TX | Confused!!! Just when I had enough with my crappy service and ordered speakeasy DSL, they fixed the problem (new router) in my area. Timing was just perfect; the very same day I placed the order, my speeds improved miraculously.
Now I have a decision to make and I’m really stressing out over this….
Here is the deal; right now I have ultralink, 3000/386 for $83.00 per month.
With Speakeasy, I would be getting 1500/ 767 for $99.00 per month, plus I could run a server which I don’t do anyway. No difference in news-server…
I have to make a decision fairly quick here and this is driving me crazy…
Please, I would appreciate any comments by your guys as to what I should do.

Well, Id love the upload of Speakeasy, but thats due to online gaming. What are you planning to use it for most? I personally would be very interested in ultralink for $83 over my attbi conn (1700-256). Do you know if its available in Allen? Phone numbers etc?

i was in a similar boat, the day i was on the phone for an hour with verizons billing trying to straighten out an issue....again, is the same day i got a letter saying i could get att cable internet finally.
im using the first month as a trial, keeping both my dsl and the cable. if the cable is reliable it stays dsl goes. its roughly the same price for 2x the speed. |

No gaming - mostly P2P. With Speakeasy there is a 12 month contract. That's why this is such a difficult decision.Otherwise, I would just try both.
This is for 'lagger'; as far as I know, Comcast right now is not offering ultralink. I believe they have a similar 'pro-service' for just a few dollars more. |

Richardson, TX | Ok, after much soul-searching, I decided not to cancel my DSL installation. Today I realized, that my last 3 months with AT&T left me severally traumatized 
In fact, every time I run a speedtest now, I hold my breath preparing myself for the worst possible scenario.
I will not cancel my service with AT&T immediately, instead, I will try Speakeasy for a month or so
and then make a decision. Should I decide to keep my broadband and cancel DSL, I will have to pay a penalty since I had to sign up for a 12-month contract.
At this time, I’m simply not in any mental state to make a decision of such great magnitude.
As my soap-opera with AT&T continues, stay tuned for part ††. |

| keep att. if they improved the service, give them one more chance. cancel the dsl service, having a contract is bad. you will pay a at least $100 penalty fee. is better not to have a contract like attbi. so far i have no complains about att. |

Keep Speakeasy. I've been with them for three years now, and they've been great. A year goes by pretty quickly.

i think the contract is bad. only company i know without a contract is cyberonics and they give you the same speed your getting from speakeasy for 1/2 the price. |

Stay away from the rollercoaster ride your in for with AT$T/Comcrap and keep DSL !!!!!!! I see you have made that choice from an earlier post and say GOOD FOR YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

San Jose, CA | skyjock has it right. My 144/144 idsl line was better for gaming than my cable line. My pings were better and 100's of servers below 100 ping. Now I'm lucky to find more than a few dozen sub 100 servers on cable.
DSL is generally better for gamers. Cable is great for downloads, P2P. |

| i recently got cable and ill have to say, the ping times are ALOT better with it than on my dsl, on dsl my pings were around 100-150, lower if the server was local, on cable, ive yet to have a ping higher than 75. on average my pings are in the 20's. |

Simple, ultralink, which I currently have, was offered by AT&T.
Since the AT&T forum is not officially dead yet and still active, I continue to post here.
Since I am confused, I thought I would ask my fellow AT&T subscribers for their opinion. They are in a far better position to comment on my predicament then lets say the Comcast or Speakeasy forum. Perhaps, I’m mistaken….Do you know something I don’t? |
