I don't live anywhere even close to the Illinois area, but here's my input to those who will be affected...
The only conditions I would stipulate would be:
1) that all decisions (pricing/expansion/upgrade/etc) made regarding municipal communications service will be made solely by locally elected officials.
2) that the municipal service (including hardware) itself and information pertaining to that service would not be allowed to be sold nor released to another entity.
Those two provisos taken care of, they'd definitely have my vote because it should guarantee (assuming no corrupt elected officials) that my rates should be kept as low as possible, and that, should I have an interest in a particular upgrade/service/channel/etc, then all I have to do is present that issue to my locally elected officials. -- 'The tighter the RIAA squeezes their fingers, the more stars and systems will slip through their fingers.' |
