Unbelievable!

I thought the RBOCs welcomed competition as long as they didn't have to share their lines. Fair enough, I guess.
So along comes a community that builds out their own infrastructure and guess who starts crying. Unbelievable, although it's what I expected.

In fact that was the exact line used by the local SBC gov rep...."We welcome competition."

Anyone who believes that really needs to read more into the current RBOC strategies currently being undertaken to bolster the federal and state regulatory freedom that they desire.
Also, read the Tauzen-Dingell Act (HR 1542) which passed the HOR but died in the Senate, because it is the template for their current strategy.
Also, follow the argument for dismembering UNE (Unbundled Network Element) provisions of TA1996, and you will understand.
RBOCs welcome competition.....uh, no. That's just laughable.
