gpurv join:2000-10-16 Garland, TX | How about our AT&T Digital Phones and Cable TV ? As I'm understanding this Comcast "merger", it only affects my ATTBI (Broadband Internet). Now, I've got one wire coming into my home which delivers Internet, TV and digital phone services. Whenever I have an outage, all 3 go down.
So, when I experience my next total outage, who am I going to call for service? I'd certainly hate to think that they might start pointing fingers at one another as to which has the problem. |

The merger affects everything, TV, Phone, and internet. When I have a TV outage, I call the same local number that I've always called, except now when I call they say "thank you for calling Comcast" instead of "thank you for calling AT&T Broadband." Your area might not be switched to Comcast yet, but in Atlanta the TV side is Comcast now and eventually the internet side will be too. -- Boycott The RIAA |

Hmmm? That's odd!? Last outage, only affected internet connectivity. My digital phone & digital cable television were working just fine!!! ... and Yes, the same telephone numbers are used for customer support:) |

Re: How about our AT&T Digital Phones and Cable TV Hey, if all 3 goto Comcast, that'll be great. Currently, AT&T tells me I have to report each AT&T service outage seperately... 3 calls for 1 outage, they would even TRANSFER my call to the next service. That always took over an hour to accomplish! |

Re: How about our AT&T Digital Phones and Cable TV ? From what I understand, Comcast has EVERYTHING, But they will be seperate( phone, cable, internet), much like at&t was. So basically under new managment. |

 | reply to gpurv AT&T doesn't even have their long distance service anymore? So AT&T as a whole company is dead? |

AT&T sold the "Broadband" division. In other words ... "EVERYTHING BROADBAND VIA CABLE"
AT&T is going back to what they know best ... "EVERYTHING TELEPHONE RELATED; non-broadband via cable"
That's what I'm made to understand.
Correct me, if that's not so. |

IF it comes through COAXIAL CABLE it was a part of the "BROADBAND" unit.
If it comes through a Wired phonline.. "CONSUMER" Unit.
If it come through a WIRELESS PHONE.. "WIRELESS" unit
All 3 were names started with AT&T but were 3 seperate companies.
Consumer is still operated by the Corporate group as ALWAYS ans STILL under ATT.
Wireless is still a INDEPENTDENT company operating under the "AT&T WIRELESS" name brand.
COMCAST just bought the BROADBAND unit and everything it does. THE BROADBAND unit DOES have Long distance services for it's LOCAL PHONE customers and these long distance services are seperate from the ATT CONSUMER prices.
Pretty much the "MA BELL" long distance you remember is the AT&T CONSUMER portion.. they are the only TRUE AT&T children... The rest were "STEPCHILD's" (Cable BROADBAND and ATT WIRELESS)
So if you see an advertisement for an ATT service ask yourself....
Was the delivery method phoneline WIRED (ATT CONSUMER) or WIRELESS (ATT WIRELESS)
All things BROADBAND COAXIAL CABLE are now COMCAST. -- RedStepChild@dslr.net |
