USB 2 is 480Mbps, usb 1.0 and 1.1 are 12Mbps. regardless of that, your points are correct and i agree with all of them.

If you have the option, I strongly suggest NIC over USB, for the reasons I mentioned.

BTW: If you are connected via DHCP and don't have a static address... You will ALWAYS get a different IP address when using different hardware.
