What's up w/ Phoenix/NP and Telocity Migration?

I have Phoenix DSL w/ Northpoint as the provider. I have no idea what is going on....

1.) Called Telocity migration team....they tell me I am not in their database and will not be migrated...NP migration is complete...have to call New Customer Service.

2.) Called Phoenix...they tell me I should be migrated...Telocity does not know what they are talking about...I am not in Telocity database because I am not added until around the time of the migration, which should be about now for me (I am in Chicago)...NP migration is not complete.

3.) Called MegaPath...they reassured me I will not be dropped until I am migrated.

3.) My DSL went down today for a few hours...was this the migration? Still using 3Com SDSL modem and LinkSys router...still using same static IP address. Is it possible I was migrated?

4.) Discovered I was never billed for 4 mo. service. I mentioned this to Phoenix to see if this was a possible explanation for me not being in Telocity database...They immediately billed my credit card and told me to call back when they know more....Damn, should not have mentioned anything.

So, any insights? Has the NP migration taken place yet? Am I going to be dropped? How can I find out if perhaps I was magically migrated today when my DSL went down? I tried to switch to DSLi, but they said I can't because AT&T bought NP assets. What is this about? HELP!

Thanks.

Hehe I have also similar problems
I've have been charged since Dec'00 and now few day ago I perceived one charge from telocity for $149.85. Few days earlier I received Telocity router, but when I plugged it in it wasn't working. I plugged it again once I saw that charged and wow, services started working. It was about half my Phoenix's speed. I kept it for 2 days to see if I can get better speed (no luck) and I'm only 4000-5000 feet away from CO. Today finally, I contacted billing department, but after about 45 minutes we came back to the same easy question why I was billed 49.95 instead of 39.95. Anyway I called by CC company and disputed $30 from that amount. Also I canceled this service today. I have @home service for almost a month and I'm happy with that.
Good luck

Not in too different situation than you. Still with Phoenix over Northpoint. Was last billed by Megapath for months of January and February.

Haven't talked to Telocity. Don't want to; they suck. Based upon your comments, I should talk to MegaPath since they're the folks billing me and still maintaining my IP connection. Phoenix is just a shell for MegaPath.

Good luck. We all need it.

I received this from Telocity last Friday. I was a Phoenixdsl/Northpoint switchover to Telocity in February:

Subject: Urgent News About Your DSL Service
Date: Fri, 23 Mar 2001 14:15:38 -0800

Dear Telocity Customer,

We are writing with some urgent and unfortunate news about your DSL
service.
As you may know, NorthPoint Communications installed the DSL line to
your
home. A bankruptcy ruling involving the sale of NorthPoint's national
DSL
circuit network has been concluded. The winning bidder who purchased
NorthPoint's national network has decided to suspend its operations
immediately.

This unexpected event will most likely mean you will lose your DSL
connection within the next week, but we are working hard to transfer
you to
another carrier as quickly as possible. (If you are unsure if this
affects
you, please check the wall jack into which your gateway is plugged.
NorthPoint wall jacks are labeled with "NorthPoint.")

We wanted to inform you right away and to assure you that we are doing
everything we can to minimize disruption for you.

TELOCITY IS ALREADY TAKING STEPS TO MINIMIZE DISRUPTION
Telocity is working around-the-clock with other line providers to
enable you
to resume service as quickly as possible after that time. Depending
upon
how the NorthPoint network is suspended, you should be able to access
your
Telocity account for the next five to seven days.

TELOCITY WILL TRANSFER YOUR LINE TO ANOTHER CIRCUIT PROVIDER
Telocity must transfer you to another circuit provider in order to
resume
your service. We will take care of this entire process for you. You do
not
need to do anything at all to activate this process. We will place
your
order with another circuit provider by the end of today so your service
is
resumed as quickly as possible. It will take approximately 4 to 8
weeks to
transfer your service to another line provider.

You will Not be Billed for Disruption of YOUR SERVICE
You will not be charged for Telocity service during those times when
your
service is interrupted as a result of the NorthPoint bankruptcy.
When
your account is resumed, Telocity will provide you a credit for one
month of
service at no charge.

YOU CAN ACCESS YOUR EMAIL
You can continue to access your email by going to

We Will Keep You Constantly Updated
We will continue to contact you through the postal mail service with
regular
updates. We have also established a special Web site and 800 number to
ensure you receive the most up-to-date information.

For updates and information, please go to: .
The
dedicated toll-free number is 877-629-4513.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and we understand this is
a
frustrating situation. We value you as a customer and will work as
quickly as possible to resume your service. We look forward to
continuing
to serve you.

Sincerely,

DSL Assistance Team
Telocity, Inc.

Thanks for your post. I've seen this letter all over DSLR folders, but not in my e-mail or snail mail box. The people at Telocity managing this transition are not a very impressive group. I've found out that I'm in their database, but I have yet to receive one communication from them beyond the letter sent out December 23, 2000.

As I am currently on PhoenixDSL's (MegaPath's) network, I will likely be hung out high to dry by this NP crisis. Telocity cannot even manage their own ship in normal seas, let alone manage the transition of Phoenix residential customers over a 3 month period. . . and they're going to provide me with a smooth transition off my NP line?????

When Telocity says 4-8 weeks transition, optimistically the best I could hope for is 8 weeks, likely longer. That's no transition. I could place a brand new order in that time by myself. So what benefit do I have to give them my business, particularly when their network sucks the big whazoo? Final answer: NONE.

Well, if you have other ships to jump to, then go ahead. But in my neighborhood, Telocity with whatever CLEC they can find is the only ship. I agree it isn't smooth sailing, but telocity--unlike lots of others--still hasn't sunk.

Re: What's up w/ Phoenix/NP and Telocity Migration?

Actually, check out this thread, also in the PhoenixDSL forum.

I received eMail communication from savemydsl@telocity.net last night, detailed in that thread, which indicates that if you haven't yet been migrated, you have to start anew, so Telocity is partially right in directing you to new customer sales.

At this point, it isn't worth arguing, because if you were still on a Northpoint line and not migrated to Telocity's network, you are SOL. Start looking at other alternatives, if Telocity doesn't strike your fancy.
