I love this "beating a dead horse" picture

Want to know why?

Because this has already been beaten to death here.

Lets face facts here. Bundled services and products have been going on for years already. What is so different about this? The fact that it is happening in midstream. The only thing is that Comcast just took over ATTBI and has the right to price its product as it sees fit. If it wants to give customers a deal if you get both TV and Internet services, then there shouldn't be a problem. The complaining you are hearing are from people who just want the Internet portion and not pay more for it. Sorry, but there is no love loss from me.

The pricing is totally legal (look at McDonalds meal deals, telephone services, and so on) and the decision is simple.

Either pay the extra money and keep your cable internet OR get both services and save a little money OR find new service.

As I said before though, this has been beaten to death in previous threads.

Nightfall...hey thanks for the great picture. I wish your logic was as good.

McDonald's has competition...Comcast does not. How many times do you need to hear THAT before it sinks in?

People don't bitch about Comcast in here for their health. You sound like many of the Comcast stockholders (or extreme loyalists) that hang out here and make excuses for the high prices and crappy service that many of us are FORCED to accept because there is no alternative.

If I can get 1/2 of the quality from Comcast some of you guys must be getting to "sing their praises" the way you do, I'd be very happy.

I have not seen it yet, and I'm paying an increased price for it.

So having competition means that bundled services and price breaks for multiple services go hand in hand? I think not. You are right to a certain extent, Comcast owns the cable systems in most areas it is in. However, the same also goes for local phone service in most areas. Yet, bundled services are there and price breaks if you get local service AND DSL. I guess it would be nice to have 10-15 choices, but that isn't the way it works out.

People in here are bitching about Comcast because of the rate increase if you just get one service. Sorry, but that is pretty dumb in my book. As I said, bundled services exist all over the place. If you just want cable modem service, then PAY FOR IT. No one has a gun to your head. The problem here is that the consumers with dish network or directv want to have their cake and eat it to. That isn't going to happen and therefore they are upset.

I am getting excellent quality from Comcast. I know of many people getting good bang for the buck from them as well. Your logic makes no sense. If you aren't happy with the service, then get rid of it. I would need to be very satisfied with a product to keep paying $45 a month for it.

Sorry we don't see eye to eye on this issue. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.

I love that picture too. Reminds me of the old saying "The floggings will continue until morale improves!" Trouble is, the folks who say things like that truly appear to believe it, as you appear to believe that being raped by Comcast is just fine. Comcast appears to have a business philosophy of "Carpe Scrotum"...

I really do wish your logic were as good as the pic. Take a second to think of the articles that DSLR puts out, and youll see why your comparison of cable to DSL makes no sense. Look in your local yellow pages.

Comcast is the only CABLE provider in alot of places.

Once again, what is your point?

You still haven't come up with one arguement against bundled services. This is just people bitching because they don't want the package deal and therefore, their rates are going up. Not one person has shown me a case where bundled services are illegal. As I said, it is a shame that there is only one choice in a couple areas, but how does that make bundled services illegal or not right? Local phone companies have those bundled services options and there is only one local phone company in some areas.

You know what's been beaten to death? You posting your "Beating a Dead Horse" in every thread you can.

I'm sorry you don't like it, but this is NEWS and yes, price gouging, monopolizing, unfair competition, etc are *old* issues but UNFORTUNATELY FOR US they continue to happen over and over again and so must be opposed, attacked, and lashed out against at every turn and at every opportunity possible.

Fight the Facism.

This "beating a Dead Horse" thing seems more like an attempt to quash discussion of a very valid topic.

I hope your Electric Company decides to increase your Electricity rates 400% and announce it's because you refused to lease new Merceedes Benz's from them, and claim it's really a 400% BUNDLED DISCOUNT that you just *refused* to comply with.

RAISING PRICES is not giving a discount. It's a PENALTY.

This hasn't been beaten to death until I get my say in. LOL.. Everyone is right here. COMCAST SUCKS. I always new ATT was SUCKY & didn't even want to imagine a worse ISP getting in my life.. Couldn't wait for ATT to fall in a deep hole some where or just vanish like some files to the destination unknown & never seen again. HeHe.

As for your remarks of "give customers a deal if you get both" Well I see no problems with a deal at all. But lets see these people get a deal not just a line of crap like you just posted. Lets see Comcast give new subscribers the prices we pay now & lower current subscribers rates that have both already. Now thats a deal since we don't get any better service than we did from ATT which wasn't worth the daily headaches while on indefinite hold. Lower the overpriced rates on both. Unless you watch the omg crap that is on the tube anymore & truly enjoy it, you don't need both. Why get burned on the so called bundle (crap, more crap) Unless you have money to waist which I doubt.

I heard a few months back the FCC was going to finally get involved with broadband since its about the only communication thing they aren't involved in to date. What ever happened to that. FCC regs. finally controlling a somewhat uncontrolled industry with little fairness to the subscribers sounds like a plan to me. I hate government interference in things but something has to be done.. So NightFall, if you like to be submissive or a push over & believe your getting a deal thats fine. The majority don't agree there is a deal from the for-mentioned ATT nor present Comcast! Who by the way couldn't tie they're shoe laces without a color picture with numbered steps.

So this topic isn't beaten to death nor ever will be. Maybe you are just sick of seeing it in your daily tutorials of this forum. If you don't like reading it then skip it & move on. There is always going to be someone finally getting tired of the humping they are getting & finally want to speak out. Or just someone like me to post something just to spite you with the tude. What are forums for if not to speak your mind, ask, and answer questions? If not maybe help someone else make a better informed decision. Let the readers read or not read what they choose.

So as Paul Harvey would say: Good day!

THATS why you cant understand what I am saying. Tell me, who anywhere in this entire thread says anything about it being illegal?? I sure didnt.

Its unethical and immoral, but who said anything about it being illegal. That could be part of the reason why no one has shown you, you are looking for something that isnt there. It will eventually be concidered illegal, but comcast has every legal right to do this.......until the FTC steps in. This is the VERY act that will bring regualtion to cable. Comcast has shot themselves in the foot bigtime. I WISH there were MORE price increases lol then we could get even the regular cable tv users into it.

But remember during the merger Comcast promised fair service and pricing for approval. They just took a dump on the FTC and they wont like that.

All I needed to read is that everyone was upset. You can be a Comcast supporter all you want, but this will change, the ball is already rolling.

I'm getting good quality service too (I'm talking about how my internet connection and cable tv perform, not what I get from the worker drones) but the prices *ARE* getting a little hard to swallow. Sure, satellite internet is available, but by comparison, sucks the big one... that does not mean that cable internet prices are not getting high. They are. They are just still the best option right now.

So I basically agree with what you are saying, but there does come a point where it starts hurting and you wonder how much more they are going to squeeze out of you. Kind of like when you live in a state with a high income tax rate and they mis-spend the money and then come after you for more. And throw a tantrum and immediately cut services across the board when you decide they aren't the best stewards of the money you worked hard for. And then later quietly reverse some of the cutbacks when they see no one trusts them any more than they did before.

Pretty soon you run out of money to throw at others and wish you could enjoy TV and internet for under $100/mo. Then you realize they are the same as your local politicians and that they aren't there to give you value for the dollar so much as to squeeze till it hurts.

quote:

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.

I love this meaningless expression. People at work use it all the time. The person saying it feels good that they have a "peaceful" compromise to the disagreement without solving anything, while the other person, who really wants to bi*ch slap whoever they are disagreeing with upside the head, loses by default because if you disagree, it's inherit that you must be agreeing on some level to disagree. I can disagree and shake my head and think the person I'm disagreeing with is a total jackass if I want. I don't have to agree to anything, and if I'm already disagreeing, why change the trend?

The "beating of a dead horse" thing means this has already been talked about a billion times here. It has nothing to do with quashing a topic. If you want to read more about this topic, a simple search will unveal all the discussion so far.

Price Gouging? Monopolization? Unfair Competition? What do they have to do with bundled services? Do you walk into a McDonalds and claim they are ripping you off because you can't get the Big Mac for the same price as in the Big Mac meal deal? I could give more examples, but it isn't worth the time.

Thanks for speaking on my behalf. I believe I am NOT getting raped. They provide a product that works very well for me. I play the bill. Life is good.

What you have here in this thread are people that don't qualify for certain bundled services complaining they have to pay more. How is that being raped by Comcast?
