THATS why you cant understand what I am saying. Tell me, who anywhere in this entire thread says anything about it being illegal?? I sure didnt.
Its unethical and immoral, but who said anything about it being illegal. That could be part of the reason why no one has shown you, you are looking for something that isnt there. It will eventually be concidered illegal, but comcast has every legal right to do this.......until the FTC steps in. This is the VERY act that will bring regualtion to cable. Comcast has shot themselves in the foot bigtime. I WISH there were MORE price increases lol then we could get even the regular cable tv users into it.
But remember during the merger Comcast promised fair service and pricing for approval. They just took a dump on the FTC and they wont like that.
All I needed to read is that everyone was upset. You can be a Comcast supporter all you want, but this will change, the ball is already rolling. -- I tie a rope around my penis and jump from a tree, don't you wanna grow up to be just like me!!!! [text was edited by author 2003-04-03 08:02:09]
Ok, last reply in this thread due to increased trolling. Not by you in specific, but others here. Not that I can't handle it, but it is pointless to argue it here. A old addage comes to mind. "If you argue on the internet and win, you are still retarded." A lot of people here need to have the last word in things, and I will let them have it willingly.
You are right, YOU didn't say it was illegal. There are others saying that, but you did not. Therefore, I apologize for that.
Unethical and Immoral? Here we go. How are bundled services either of those things? Especially when everyone from fast food restaurants, phone companies, to insurance companies offer price breaks for multiple products purchased. Ok, they are the only choice in certain areas, but how is that unethical? That is something not one person here has talked about.
Will the FTC step in? That is not my decision and if they do, great. I have no problem with that. Some Comcast supporter eh? -- My Domain Nightfall's Hockey and Life Journal |

The title , picture & useless logic of this thread (started by you) is a troll in itself, If you don't like people discussing news & views many feel relevant, stay out of the topic.

Simple
Pay or go to dialup. Have a nice day.
<sarcasm> I want a Bentley, but those cost between $200000 and $500000 and I don't want to pay that! The government should step in and force Bentley to sell their cars at $20000 just like Honda does! </sarcasm> -- Pissed off at traitorous, ungrateful musicians? Don't just boycott them! Trade their MP3s and really screw them over! And don't forget, 2 out of 3 human shields agree! Saddam really is evil! |

 | reply to Nightfall Here's the problem with your McDonald's analogy: With the McDonalds combo, I can buy any or all the items seperately for a seperate price. There is no discount off one for buying the other. There is a bundle price for buying the entire group.
That is NOT how it works at Comcast. With Comcast, regular TV subs DO NOT get penalized for NOT buying internet. But Internet only subs DO. They don't have a true bundle. They have discrimination against the internet only sub. With Wide Open West (who I have), they have 1 price for cable, 1 price for internet, and another price (bundled) for both. Not a surcharge on internet for failing to have tv service.
And yes, VIABLE competition DOES matter here. Dial up is NOT viable competition. The products are vastly different. DSL would at least be close, but isn't widely available. It's not like going to the Burger King down the street. There is no VIABLE competition. Like being at a sporting event, we are a CAPTIVE audience. Re-regulation is needed. |

Point is this topic has been beaten to death already. I point that out and I am a troll? Did I say I didn't like people discussing news and views? It is also amazing how you feel that I am a troll while others here who are flaming freely are not. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. I really think you should learn to read instead of pointless trolling.

 | reply to Nightfall Nightfall is right. Cable internet is not a right. Broadband internet service is not a right either. Comcast can charge whatever they want for THEIR service. No matter how you look at it is THEIR product. Comcast is well aware that people will cancel just like any business is when they raise prices. If don't want to pay, cancel. |

If only I *had* another "high speed" choice... I'm over 18,000 ft. from the CO, so Covad/Earthlink/etc. DSL is out... Comcast is the only game in town, and they decided to change the rules midstream. Go ahead and "bundle" all you want, but do it with NEW customers, not the ones you already have!!! My God, this is so obvious, it is pathetic. These marketing droids must have gone to the same business schools as the dopes at the RIAA did. What a bunch of idiots.
Again, if there was ANY competition, I'd be the first one to sign up with them. Satellite?!? That's not a valid comparison; much higher equipment costs, MUCH slower speeds (~400kb/s), and horrendous ping times. I guess it's time to go back to *cringe* dial-up! Oh, the horrors... -Bob
P.S. I just got off the phone with a staff reporter from Associated Press, who found my name in a story a local TV station did a couple of months back, about this price gouging. They will be sending out a story about this on the "wire" within the next day or two, and if I see it, I'll post it on the board somewhere. |

| reply to vic102482 You would suffer, if Comcast is your only option, then I would say that they did you a courtesy by bringing the internet to your area, because obviously you live in a part of town, or maybe even a state, where the telco thinks you are too far out to be worth anything. I would suggest you call Comcast and get whatever issues you are having resolved, request a Zone Coordinator be assigned to your escalated ticket so you can get whatever issue you have fixed. Essentially, the service should not have issues very often at all. Now if you are looking at network slow-downs, then check with others in your area, and compare. Price, as far as that goes, you are paying around the same amount as anyone else on any other service ($45 is average for broadband). I think it is amazing that everyone in this forum is negative, yet I have seen a change, this is amazing. How long has Comcast been in your area, because they were in mine for 5 months before anything started changing. |
|
 | this is about Comcast taking over ATT Broadband and jacking up the price to over $52 a month. I'm supposed to be happy that they came along and offered me a service? the service was implemented by ATT, not Comcast.
keep holding on to that illusion of free market increasing competition resulting in lower prices for consumers. |

 | reply to Nightfall Well attbi stated they had the right to change prices 'upon reasonable notice', comcast stated 'there will be no rate changes' on the transition website. For all od us whose rate went up without notice there is the potential for a class action based on breach of contract. They can't provide details of how they informed us of the price increase (because they didn't inform us).
I don't know any law though so I could just be blowing smoke. |
