 | Comcast is smart Comcast is smart. They know what they're doing. First they raise the rate on internet service to approx $54 for customers who don't have TV service, and tell everyone that they can purchase a "bundled service" with a lower price. But you can bet they have a fall back plan, because they KNOW that someone out there will cry "foul", and try to stop them from charging a higher rate. Comcast will fight for a while to make it look good, then they'll announce "okay we'll roll the rate back to what it was but impose bandwith restrictions instead and charge people more who use more." Imposing bandwith restrictions and charging people more who use more seems to be a more accepted buiness practice. And they'll get away with it and make their extra revenue that way. Using this sneaky plan is the way to get what they wanted in the first place. More money for more data.
I know because I was at the meeting. | |  | Re: Comcast is smart??? If this happens, THEY better supply the following things;
1) Popup filters. I'm NOT paying for popup ads, so stop them before they get to me.
2) SPAM filters. See item 1.
3) Banner ad removal. See item 1.
You see where this is going? If I have to pay per byte, as it were, then I ALONE am the sole arbiter as to which bytes I'm paying for, and THEY will only supply me with those bytes. If they can't do this, then they can't implement the pricing structure, either. | |
