Anon | Northpoint goes dark, Cleveland, OH Northpoint network died this afternoon. Megapath to install new local loop for Rhythms on Monday, 4/2.... |
Anon | I am also a former customer of NP thru Telocity - was a former customer of flashcom via NP.
How did you arrange to get reconnected so fast. Will it be a SDSL connection or an ADSL line.
I would like to retain my old SDSL line whihc worked perfectly at 780+. Got a message today from Telocity which seems to indicate they will set me up with an ADSL line - Bah!!!!!!!!! |
 | reply to Anon I just found out through my ISP, APK.Net, that Ameritech will allow ISP to migrate existing lines to AmTech, which will cut down the time until many can get back up! |

What will you be migrated too?
I am located in Richmond Heights, Ohio. |

 | Residential customers are being shifted to Ameritech. They (APK) were hesitant to go with Covad or Rhythms as they didn't want their customers to have to go through another debacle like NP. Neither Covad nor Rhythms is in the best financial shape either. |
Anon | What type of DSL service did you have prior to disconnect by NP? What type of DSL service will you be migrated too?
I had SDSL and I DONOT want ADSL - I would like to stick with SDSL. |
 | If you require SDSL, you can pretty much expect to pay for a business line. Reasonable priced consumer SDSL is going to be as hard to find as winning lotto tickets. Here's where you can find out the details regarding APK's migration. |

 | Hi guys form Cleveland, I am in Highland Heights (home and work) Our company had APK over NP - down ,but promised 2 weeks max. At home Telocity uses Rhythms, so I am up. How you got telocity on NP in Richmond HTS - it is across the street, may be they can move you to Rhythms? ark@telocity.com |
Anon | reply to Anon you can get SDSL if you are willing to pay business rate. See »www.beannet.com. Takes about a week to switch. |
Anon | reply to Anon Is rhythms going with someone dependable? If not check out »www.beannet.com for Covad in 7 days or so. |
Anon | reply to Pope Poitin Actually Covad is in significantly better shape than Northpoint. It has already reported sufficient cash to go through 2002 and should improve with more customers and fewer free bees. Rhythms however is a reseller linked to Northpoint so is more unknown. |
 | reply to Anon does anyone know what will happen to idsl customers. I live in wickliffe and have an idsl connection thru northpoint. of course no longer working and since ameritech only does adsl it looks llike will i left out in the dark.. |
Anon | reply to Anon Megapath did the arranging for me. It's a business line, SDSL so that's probably why they give a damn. Ameritech installed the local loop, then came out again a week later to install the same circuit number AGAIN, LOL. Then a couple days later MegaPath e-mails me that "no facilities are available" (huh, thought we just did this twice???), but they are going to scrap installing a new loop and instead do a "hot cut" from NorthPoint's equipment to Rhythm's equipment at the CO using my old pair from Northpoint. One hand does not know what the other is doing. MegaPath's formerly prompt service via e-mail has also been non-existent since the NP disaster. Adelphia just started offering cable modem service in Cleveland, that might be the way to go for residential at least.... |
