Week 10 Contest...Flowers!

OK, it's kitsch, it's expected, it's easy. It's also Mother's Day, so we should have flowers for all the mothers to enjoy.

Last week's crop had to be judged while the boss was asleep; I don't know how she'll feel about the results, but I'm sure that Grover and Grumpy4 See Profile aren't unhappy with them.

The rules:

Limit one entry per person, per week.
Discussion is discouraged. (though that doesn't stop the creation of a 'companion' thread, for that purpose).
Remember that the picture will be reduced to 200 wide x140 high.

Boy, this was hard to pick--as a rock climber, I take lots of wildflower photographs.

Details: Olympus C-2100UZ. +1 diopter close-up lens. Natural, partly cloudy sky for the background.

Taken two days ago in Granada, Spain. This type of house, surrounded by a garden and separated from the street by a wall and a chancel is called a "carmen", and its very common to see flowers protruding from them. The picture was taken at about 1 PM, which corresponds to 11 AM sun time.

Space Flower

This is perhaps the most unusual flower I have ever encountered in Key West. I wish I had a better side view... it was at the top of a 12 foots succulent (cactus like) plant I still have never really gotten the name of though many know of it by description. First one I had ever seen flower though. Really looks like some alien life form out of Star Trek or something with it upside down flowers supported by tripod stems.

Hey, I know this disqualifies me from the contest--but I don't mind since I believe lots of the fun of photography is about sharing with your friends, and I'm sure flower-loving folks will be reading this thread. This little one-and-a-half inch daisy was taken today with a new lens I'm testing.
