[IE6.x] What is this?

When ever I type something into the adress bar it takes me here. Why is this happening and how do I stop this?

Re: [IE6.x] WTF IS THIS?

Looks like you have some IE Browser Helper installed. See »support.microsoft.com/?kbid=298931 and see if that resolves the problem from occurring.

Helper is a Misnomer

You also might want to try a Spyware removal program like:

Try Lavasoft's Ad-Aware 6, not that it's any better than Spybot.

Read my spyware FAQ and you may find some information. I'm going to look up that url and some BHOs accociated with it.

I think you may have IGetNet or ShopNav

I dunno what detects or removes them.

Please note links go to harmless information pages about the BHO and not the BHO's webpage

PestPatrol's page:

"IGetNet is a keyword-search service implemented as an IE Browser Helper Object and a process run at Windows start-up (WinStart.exe or WinStart001.exe) which writes to the Hosts file. Once this modification has occurred, every time you try to contact MSN or Netscape's search sites you are re-routed though IGetNet's servers. The IGetNet server checks to see whether your search includes a keyword they have sold to one of their advertisers, and if so, redirects you to that site. If not they forward you to the real MSN or Netscape Search so you shouldn't notice the difference."

Looks like your browser is having trouble finding the yahoo site, so it goes to MSN search, and the Browser Helper Object redirects the MSN search to that site.

Another possiblity is that your BHO also forwards yahoo.

Try running PestPatrol to see if that's infact what's on your system

It looks as though a configuration page that you're trying to access that's looks to be unreachable, for whatever reason. If it's the Yahoo Companion you want to get rid of, it's a downloadable product that should be removable from Add/Remove Programs. Unless perhaps your an SBC Yahoo customer that installed their branded software when you signed up. Even then, you should be able to easily rid yourself of the mess.
