|
 | I agree with you. To bad even with the speed increase it will still be much less then what I paid $42/month for about 1 year ago. Is there any ETA for when a speed upgrade would happen. I'm already in the process of switching to Verizon now, so if this is one of those might happen in a year deals then good by comcast. |

And what happened to @Home? Give it a rest already. |
|
 | I wont give it a rest. I would have gladly paid more to keep that service alive. But since I didn't pay @Home directly all the services providers would have to raise prices, and I guess they figured it would be better to get all the money for the service rather then pay some to @Home.
In all other cases I can think of in the tech world as time goes on the products get faster, better, and cheaper. In the case of broadband it has gotten slower, worse, and more expensive. |

What can you do now though? @Home is the prime example of what happened when a do-nothing dot-com (Excite) is allowed to buy a viable company. If anything, you should go and spank the shareholders that allowed this to happen. -- Saying that Microsoft has a monopoly in Operating Systems because one is too lazy to learn a different OS is like saying that Ford has a monopoly in cars because one is too lazy to find a Honda dealership. |

 | Yeah they really blew it. But what I read it was companies like ATT that forced @Home to go bankrupt.
I am getting tired of these people that keep saying stop whining. Is it bad to think back to good times though, I mean let me remember the glory days. It is relevent I think to mention how bad the broadband prices have gotten. Before ATT took over this area I had uncapped download and upload. So my speed tests were usually around 4000/1000.
Now for $60/month I get 1800/200. I do have the choice of Verizon, so the only way I would consider staying with Comcast is if they did increase the speeds. I'd like to see 3.5/384. Or how about lowering my price back to $45/month, and making it $60 for the increased speed. |

I see it this way. I could never get service through @Home. Maybe the fact that Comcast wasn't making enough per customer through them was creating a disincentive for them to expand services. As soon as @Home went down, Comcast began expanding service like crazy. Most likely it was due to increased profit they would make by offering broadband. -- Saying that Microsoft has a monopoly in Operating Systems because one is too lazy to learn a different OS is like saying that Ford has a monopoly in cars because one is too lazy to find a Honda dealership. |

This is where I see the real issue. If one wants more bandwidth, then let him pay for it, but there are many who would rather see a cut in the rate for their current service level and it would bring in new customers who would never buy into "Broadband" because of the existing inflated costs. |
