Re: Increasing speed is a good strategy While Comcast advertises 1500 kbps, their caps for standard service have been at 1800 kbps for some time now. Cable speeds are more likely based on local network capacity / number of users / assumed peak load model than being totally arbitrary. Raising the download caps may be easy if there is spare bandwidth on the local download channels. It creates other issues if the system is already running near capacity.
The upload side is an entirely different animal.

I don't see why. Whether you're connected to a CO or RT, you can be close (high speed potential) or distant (low speed potential). |
