| Re: Security Software Updates 30 May 2003 Kaspersky was rather late completing the weekly base it seems. New weekly just a few minutes ready to download.
Russian ftp still doesn't have the file though.
The Swiss site normally seems to be a bit quicker. If you want the file now: »ftp://ftp1.avp.ch/bases
Edit: Additional bases are updated as well. [text was edited by author 2003-05-30 15:56:12]

i have no idea if that is russian or swiss site.
sounds like you're saying that in a little while, new updates will follow?
thank you | |

Should take no more than a couple minutes I guess.

Clear your local "bases" directory, then download and install from the Swiss "bases" directory: first the cumulative, then the weekly -- the cumulative is the large 3-meg file; the weekly is small and has May 30 date as part of its filename. When done you'll have what I display in my screenshot. -- "But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." (1 Cor. 13:13)

hey ran
just a quick note to thank you for the advice on manually rebuilding the KAV database. it worked perfectly for me. the updater wizard within the program, however, is corrupted, in that it rolls back the number of viruses and the date of last update, whenever i run it.
i have been in touch with KAV support to try to fix this problem. initially i thought that there was a problem with the cumulative file posted here today, but no one else appears to have been adversely affected as i was.
again, your helpfulness is greatly appreciated, both here and via IM.
[edit in... i just received email back from "Kaspersky Lab Support" that simply said...
"thank you for the message. We are sorry for all the trouble. It will be fixed as early as possible."
so they must be aware of this problem.]

You're welcome boblandy2 , I'm always gratified to help someone, a fellow KAV user. I also owe a debt to Motumbo who was my original tutor on KAV and on manual rebuild of the database. In the meanwhile, since that post and screenshot you'll note there has also been a daily posted at the Swiss Site (see pic): the total records after applying the daily is 68255. Be sure you d/l and install the daily, in the same way you did the cumulative and weekly. said by boblandy2: ..the updater wizard within the program, however, is corrupted, in that it rolls back the number of viruses and the date of last update, whenever i run it. i have been in touch with KAV support to try to fix this problem. initially i thought that there was a problem with the cumulative file posted here today, but no one else appears to have been adversely affected as i was.
No, I don't think there's any problem with the cumulative file. You're right, Schouw , myself and others haven't had any problems with it. Other KAV users here are IGGY , Mats , Tuulilapsi , reckoner -- you can always IM them if you want to get feedback and info on KAV and its updates. said by boblandy2: again, your helpfulness is greatly appreciated, both here and via IM. You're most welcome, and as someone who is primarily a Norton man, I'm somewhat gratified in one sense to know that Symantec isn't the only one who experiences screwups with their products, hehe. LOL
| | | | | | | Re: Security Software Updates 30 May 2003 another quick follow up, and i hope this is on topic and not polluting the updates thread...
i did hear back a second time from KAV support in moscow regarding the cumulative file and corrupted updater wizard. though they never ID'd the prob for me, here is what the second missive stated:
"Dear Customer,
This problem has already been fixed. Update your antiviral bases. I am sorry for any trouble and inconvenience this matter may have caused you. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this or any portion of other problems with antivirus software, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely yours, Saphia Yunaeva"
happy to report that running Updater Wizard this morning did *not* roll back defs or defs date, plus, i moved over to another machine and different operating system where the cumulative update had not yet been applied, and the Updater Wizard handled it seamlessly.
hth, and thanks for everyone's patience in letting me post the follow ups here.

| Boblandy,
I noticed the same thing this afternoon (I am using 4.5 beta 4). I was quite busy at work so I was unable to do anything about it.
However, later on, before doing a rebuilding job, I decided to change my download site to the Swiss one and it updated and *allegedly* I am at 68255 (edited - typo corrected) and the date is correct. This number tallies with that on avp.ch.
So I am not sure what exactly happened.
