Progress with Bounce...

Well these ESC board do not look like they will work with bounce . With that said I will get the 6th board up, running and crunching...

Do you guys want me to split the boards across FAH and GAH, 3 each?, run them so they get what ever comes their way or set them to run GAH???

MVM,

Well ... that stinks, sorry to hear this FK.

wafen, Can you tell us what (if anything) the members who donated specifically for Foldy2 requested?

Looking over my notes I don't see any certain project picked by anyone.

If not specified my 2 cents would be for them to fold.

I prefer folding also but likely at least one should bend just for the folks who prefer bending, besides the two work together.

Then that brings up the Q of team 4 or the genome number???

If one bends it should use the genome team # as the points are MUCH better than if you use the team 4 # and the stats would go to the GAH Stats.

The two I have bending here bend under the genome team # and use the username of TH_Bendinator. (I know you didn't like that name ,sue, but it was too late.)

I am curious? Which one is most helpful and useful to Stanford? DO they get more useful info from the old client or the new one?

So what is the difference between 4 and our GAH number? Other than better stats?

I have explained this many times before.

If you are using team #4 and you do a GAH work unit, you get approx 70% less points for the same work if you had done it under the genome team #

EG....

System A - Team 4 - GAH Unit xxx - complete time 16 hours 14 mins. - Points 15.99

System A - Team 214386208 - GAH Unit xxx - complete time 16 hours 14 mins. - Points 67.21

The only variable that changed was the team # used. And you can see the point differene. So, which do you think would be more cost effective to run under 4 or 214386208?

EDIT: This only applies to GAH work not FAH work.

OK. lets cpmpare the two.

4

214386208

Looks like the only diff other than stats, is eight numbers "21 386208" or subtract the 4 it becomes 214386204 . ;(

Personally I am a folder at heart, but the people that donated the major part of several system blades ask specifically that they bend so that is what they do. As Team Helix as a whole has not decided to finally just merge the two teams together as one team, then when they say bend I assume that they mean under the genome team stats and not the FAH stats.

I would have loved for them to all fold or bend under one team #, would have been alot less work for me that way. But to bend right now under Team #4 is not cost effective as you do not get the same points per watt used.

Well, unless you are bit more specific in what you mean by what the differences are there is not that much I can say.

They are simply different team numbers that go to different stats pages.

The same client is used for both and it in turn uses the proper core that it needs for the work unit it is doing at the time.

If you are wanting to know the diff. in setting them up, that is done in the client.cfg file with the client-type=X entry. But, I assumed that you knew that already?

Not really sure what it is you are after here, sorry.

Did I or did I not say that there is NO older client anymore. What is being run now is the EXACT same client doing the EXACT same work with the EXACT same scientific results.

The Team #'s have absolutely NOTHING to do with the type of work you get or the science end of it at all. The team #s just simply tell the Stats Sever where to credit the points to.

This although vague, I did attempt to answer as best as I could. I did inject a little levity into the situation, but that was meant as harmless fun is all.

Once you made it clearer what you were looking for I gave you the appropriate answer above.

Thank you. Glad I could be of service.

Well MB You have been in FAH/GAH long enough to know what I mean and no I did not need you to tell me the difference between the numbers 4 and 214386208... And yes your are right... the difference is 214386204....

From reading the Stanford forum the answer was "nothing. Only Stats"

MB,
Lets get away from being sarcastic and answer the questions. If you feel you must be sarcastic then please don't reply to my post....

thanks in advance....
