 | Anyone still getting their emails with PhoenisDSL? I have not been able to access my email account since this past Monday, April 9th. Has anyone been able to retrieve their emails since Monday?
I'm trying to determine if the problem is due to Phoenix or Northpoint. The support staff at Telocity is unable to determine which. |

Anon | PhoenixDSL servers have been shut down. All of them. DNS was changed to Megapath name servers but they do not have any records for the pnx1.com or Phoenixdsl.com domains. I send Email and got a response from an engineer at Megapath and he told me that all of the phoenix domains and all of there servers would be shut off. (Thanks for the notification Phoenix, Megapath,Telocity or who ever was in charge) The DNS servers went down so I started using the DNS servers at Verio. Then, this morning, my connection went dead. I can't ping the gateway.
This has got to be the WORST hand off ever! I know that megapath was never interested in residential customers but no effort was made to keep the customers informed or connected. Yes, I did receive a letter that the transition would be comming. Then I lost Email, DNS, and finaly connectivity. If I could find another provider I would jump ship in a second. I'll stop here before I start cussing the F*&ing Idiots at Phoenix, Megapath, and Telocity. (Sh!th3ads, all of them!) |

 | I think most would agree that the transition from Phoenix to Telocity was handled poorly.
After receiving the same letter that everyone else did the end of December, I did not hear another word from Telocity until mid March. Based on that alone I was not interested in going with a company that showed such a lack of goodwill even on the Sales end.
When I did hear from them in mid March it was because they needed my credit card number before they could start the migration process. At the time I was waiting for a new credit card to arrive in the mail. In the meantime I offered to send a check if they would send me a bill. They are unable to send bills and do not have the facilities to accept checks. The beginning of April came and I gave them a call to find out how I would be affected by the Northpoint bankruptcy. They told me my account had been canceled the previous week. That I was part of a mass cancellation. Like many others I've been able to find out very critical information only by phoning Telocity myself. That is very disappointing for a company of their size.
The bottom line is that I've already moved on. Obviously I was given some incentive once my DSL line went dead.
You are in the Dallas area. Getting another DSL shouldn't be that difficult. In addition to the DSL Reports website try the Rythms and Covad websites. Sometimes the results for availability vary from site to site. |
