Re: NOD32 Version 2 final release Jackie_Chan_Fan - Been seeing some problems crop up with the new version relating to the "over-the-top" "via updater" issue.
Check this forum: »www.wilderssecurity.com/index.php?board=39
Specifically, some people are reporting that
(a)the right-click scan option is no longer there if you went to v.2 final via the update function. (Un-install/re-install replaced that function for at least one person, although I've asked if there's a way to do it via the registry).
(b)You can no longer "exclude" files or directories from scanning by AMON - adding something to the exclusion list doesn't work.
(c)The option to "Quarantine" a file isn't available in AMON's set-up dialogue for some reason.
All three of these problems (as well as others) are being addressed.
(Sigh). Just great. Pete -- Compaq Presario 7110US, 1.3GHz Athlon w/384KB On-Chip Cache Memory, 768MB PC2100 DDR RAM, 60GB MAXTOR UltraDMA HD, WinXP Pro w/SP1, IE6.0 w/SP1,TDS-3, WormGuard, NOD32, SpyBlocker 6.2, OutPost Pro, ALL javacool programs, SBS&D, SPYCOP . |

MWR2NY join:2002-02-06 Edgewood, MD | reply to Vampirefo I use McAfee 7 which has detected trogans that Nortons AV didn't see. I'm a little apprehensive to use a product that spins fast but doesn't detect. McAfee has a good program that works and works well. Why switch to a unknown commodity? |

OH NO .. here we go with McAfee again .. has anyone noticed marti's original thread is titled: "NOD32 Version 2 final release" .. gang, are we able to stay on-topic here and discuss the new release of NOD? Or do y'all want to go off on another tangent? I refrained from saying anything BUT .. this is not fair treatment to marti and all the NOD-users who want to discuss NOD's new release {as the thread topic says} .. they don't wanna talk about Norton, McAfee, PC-Cillin, Kaspersky, etc. .. OK? Let's stay on-track and on-topic here, please.

spy1Welcome to AmerikaPremium join:2002-06-24 Charlotte, NC | reply to GuruGuy GuruGuy - I didn't mention the possible TH Update w/NOD v.2 issue specifically because it may not be related to NOD - apparently a lot of other people are having trouble updating TH and so far (as of two minutes ago), there hasn't been any response to questions about it (by Magnus, anyway) on the TH forum.
All I listed were the three problems I can see myself that I'm experiencing on my computer here.
Hope whatever the deal is with the TH updates gets fixed (by whomever!) - it's a great program! | reply to marti Yes, I see where the others have started piping in about this................I started both threads in Wilders & Trojan Hunter yesterday and am a little concerned that no one from TH has responded yet..........might be out of town, etc....who knows. Still, if there is a server problem, someone should be home minding the store to keep things up and running. I'm still not convinced yet though that this is a TH issue............to coincidental. I could be wrong though (wouldn't be the first time!). LOL! |
|

| TH/NOD users can try the manual update: »www.misec.net/support/trojanhunter/updating/ -- but I suspect this is a TH Server problem and has nothing to do with NOD.
EDIT: I cannot get to that manual update link right now; strange though, I can get to TH Forum just fine .. ?? .. sorry for the problems, folks. -- "But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." (1 Cor. 13:13) [text was edited by author 2003-06-14 12:06:16] |

 | reply to marti Unless I've missed it, how does NOD32 V2 handle scanning POP3 mail that comes through Port 995 using TLS?
My understanding is that the mail in encripted, so how does the 'Winsock' layer scan this? |

That's a very good question, probably best answered on the NOD32 forum at Wilders. -- *Team Z* Member **PCQ&A Forum** |
