Re: Bit Torrent People getting busted.

I share 1149 mp3s (3833MBs) over WinMX and get files using BitTorrent at will and I do things just like a normal man. I am not scared. I wonder why you people are so scared.

Oh yea, I do not live in the USA

If downloading music off P2P is illegal, than so is recording music off the radio, recording TV shows on your digital recorder or VCR,etc. That's bullshit! Folks,NOW is the time to get hold of your representatives and tell them ENOUGH of this bullshit! STOP the harrassment! If someone is making CD's and SELLING them, fine! GET THEM as they DEFINATELY are doing something illegal for a profit! If someone is getting music for their OWN enjoyment, there is NO way they are violation any laws! There is legislation regarding VCR's that apply to this. If they have come up with some other 'legislation' to violate that, then THEY need to be brought before the courts! Personal use does NOT constitute a breach of copyright laws,PERIOD! Contact your legislatures!

First off, copying *is* illegal. Secondly, making a song available to thousands of people does not qualify as "personal use" by any stretch. Not trying to be difficult, just following this thread with interest and seeing flaws (imo) in some of the logic.

Maybe the RIAA should just push for new laws that would make it impossible to have a computer in your home. I agree on one point people should get money for the product they put on the market. Who is it that should make the decision on how much the are getting for their ART, well that would be me and any other person labeled as a consumer. Face it all cd's and not just old ones are not worth the same thing. When I see a cd in a store that is over $20 it makes me think hmm do I really need that, The answer is always no! The solution is to break apart the distribution channels and force the record companies to charge what a product is worth based on consumer opinion. Price based on consumer opinion means consumers will pay that price.

One more thing say I buy a cd I'm not just paying for the cd and the packaging, I am also paying for the content so now that I have paid for it once I don't think I should ever have to pay for it again. The riaa should be responsible for keeping a complete online archive of every cd that is sold so those that buy the cd can always access what they legally paid for and if the riaa thinks this would be to big of a pain they could have another company do it for them.

One way that people can create a major headache for these riaa bastards is to grab a couple of cd's you own that you purchased from the store get the song titles and download the songs you actually own from p2p. just a small minority of people on kazza doing this would cause the riaa at least a couple of headaches.

Buddies,
Ok, downloaders will be safe, if you all are right.
But...there are "rules", ethic rules may be.
We CAN'T only download, it's impossible ALL of us to be ONLY downloaders.
For making us happy with new soft, films, music, someone MAY BE will busted, and go to jail...
I think, we must find a solution how to keep ALL /uploaders and downloaders/ SAFE.
Otherwise "eliminating" uploaders, soon downloaders will "dissapear" to.
If you want to be able to use these "services" - think about that.

This is in reference to a post from long ago, but there IS a way to share files that are different than the ones you are downloading in emule. Just set everything that is 'safe' to share (tv shows, indie movies/music, and even the binaries for all the different emule versions) to high or release priority. Then set the files you are downloading but do not wish to upload to very low priority after you successfully download the first chunk. In some mods there is a powershare option that you could use along with the high priority thing.

It's true that you will occaisionally upload some things you dont want to, but risk is a lot lower. Also if you have more stuff in your shared folder it decreases your chances.
