Re: If you go beyond 128 Mbs RAM, do this!

PingPong: I have no doubt about what you say. Again, I can only say what I've observed. I have had a very stable system that I believed I had optimally tweaked for maximum resources given what I want to have running (NAV, SetiSpy,BlackIce and an Email notifier). I was as surprised as anyone to see an extra 3%. The only additional tweak I made was adding the ConservativeSwapfileUsage one. No deletions or additions of anything else that has been mentioned in this thread were implemented. Anybody else get this effect?

As my signature sez...

I tried it and it works great

I added more memory to my machine a while back to a total of 384 mb. I could not figure out why it was still using the HD to write to. Well this fixed it and the HD hardly runs now. I just used the Conservativefileswap=1 line. Should I use anything else? My 386eh shows:

[386Enh]
ebios=*ebios
woafont=dosapp.fon
mouse=*vmouse, msmouse.vxd
device=*dynapage
device=*vpd
device=*int13
device=*enable
keyboard=*vkd
display=*vdd,*vflatd
device=*combuff
device=turbovcd.vxd
device=dva.386
Paging=on
Con servativeSwapfileUsage=1

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Running win 98se Thanks
