AkumalDaveLife's A BeachPremium,MVM join:2001-04-20 Minneapolis, MN | Why aren't NP lines released? NorthPoint is history. AT&T doesn't give a you-know-what about NP's customers. So why aren't the NP lines released?
My TWO residential lines run through a UDC (digital splitter), over which Qwest can't run their DSL service. The third line is the one that NP provisioned for 784k SDSL, which must bypass the UDC. Problem is, it shows up in Qwest's database as "someone else's property" and they can't touch it. They can't even do a qualification over it (according to the tech).
If you're not going to use the lines NP and AT&T, PLEASE release them so that we can get reconnected over them. It is the VERY LEAST you could do... |

 | Have you shown Qwest the "Letter of Agency", signed by Liz, that releases Northpoint's interest in those lines?
I was about to have my order for ADSL through Southwestern Bell cancelled last week until I showed them the letter, and they moved my DSL line to the old NP pair (which worked fine... using the new ADSL now, thank you!).
You can find the letter at »www.ev1dsl.net/loa.pdf

Yes, I tried that but the Qwest tech just yawned. He said if it hadn't been officially received back atHQ, it didn't exist as far as he was concerned. He even complained that all these unreleased lines were becoming a real problem because there weren't enough unused pairs in the neighborhood box. He did test the old NP line and I think I might have been able to get him to use it, but the NP (now AT&T) DSLAM back at the CO was still happily chattering on that line so he wouldn't touch the LINE. But he happily connected the new pair he installed in my NID to NP's old jack in my wall! But I doubt I'll never again have such a clean line as that old NP pair, no longer connected on my end but still connected to the DSLAM back in the CO. sigh. |

No news yet... I was SO fired up when I read your post, that I contacted Qwest again (after spending 1 1/2 hours getting passed around to various departments the day before). I talked to a Rep who seemed genuinely interested and asked me to fax him the LOA (which I did immediately). Since then, I've heard nothing back. I left another voicemail, asking simply to be contacted - either way. Still nothing.
That old NP line is my only hope at this point. My other two phone lines run through a UDC (digital splitter) and can't carry DSL. |
