Re: and where do they get their deep pockets......

Unfortunately, they are bleeding us legally registered and operating Internet radio webcasters to death. Since day one, for over 3 years now, my private radio venture has hemorrhaged loads of cash for just having the "right" to broadcast. It does not even matter to them if I play only music from private or independent artists either. They make a ton of money off of the backs of the consumers, and those that wish to express a different, refreshing voice to terrestrial broadcasting through the internet.

All of this is of course done on the shirt tails of the DMCA, where it in spirit states that any digital medium allows for a perfect reproduction of material. The RIAA is not necessarily the bad guys here -

We need to strike at the DMCA itself and copyright laws to take the wind out of the sails of the RIAA and liberate otherwise still or dying webcasters the world over.

Amen ...

I like webcasting ... I enjoy playing independent and alternative music ... and I enjoy producing content ...

I do not think Internet radio should be the target of the recording industry ... We actually help them and artists music to be noticed.
