Very informative ! Just looking at The B version .. It kinda looks like a prototype though with the wire wraps/connections. Of course that is a layman's opinion. That is A looks cleaner.

Glad I bought rev B. The store had both rev A and B sitting out and it took me quite a while to find the date on the packaging so I could tell which one was the newer model (with more bugfixes).

I thought the A model has stateful packet inspection as well?

and this is for the rev. a model if you click on technical information.

You know also looking at the A version I can only see ONE antenna connection. Guess that shows the other antenna is for looks like I read somewhere here. !

I read most people want 2 antennas, the A looks to have only one working. Now the B version with one external antenna looks like it has one external and one internal (guess from picture)

I've posted earlier about my finding out that only 1 antenna on the Rev. A 614+ seems to be working, but nobody suggested to me that this is true for all Rev. A units. I contacted Dlink support about this but they didn't say that only 1 antenna is supposed to work.

Here's a pic of my Rev. A 614+ and it looks like there're two antenna connections, although my left antenna doesn't appear to be working.

The power jack isn't an antenna connector. Remember, the Rev. A pic I posted is of the removed PCB, not of the router with just the casing removed.

As far as I know, the internal antenna in Rev. B isn't doing much either. Maybe for both revisions, the firmware is set to only use the primary antenna (the one furthest from the power plug).

The 2 external antenna connectors in Rev. A seems like the better setup...if the firmware was set to use diversity antenna, which it doesn't appear to be.

Looks like it does. I didn't know whether Rev. A had it or not...just that Rev. B does (SPI is listed on the Rev. B box but not the Rev. A box)

I think both Rev A and Rev B have SPI, it's just a matter of how much of a performance hit you get. I'm assuming that the ARM7 vs ARM9 processor in Rev A vs B, that Rev B has much more horsepower for SPI and more.

It looks like the Rev A uses a Samsung ARM7 processor at 33mhz according to here.

The Rev B uses a Conexant Arm9 processor at 168mhz according to here.

I have a Rev A myself, I'm looking for a more powerful router though. My Rev A can't seem to handle 300 simultaneous connections (Emule), it just reboots itself.

B is also about half the size of A. Just got a B to replace my blown out A (lightning).

Is anyone else finding the B version 614+ to have better signal strength? It seems better to me, but this may be mere variations in their quality control.
