Orlando, Tampa, Florida is being offered a similar package but only for Biz customers. You have to subscribe to RR BIZ class. They offer 2mb down 512 up or 3mb down 756upload packages. Price is about $160 for DHCP or $210 for static. This is offered for Brighthouse Network Customers but they are still using the RoadRunner Service.

it will not be a smart move for TWC to impose this in NYC as there is lots of different options for net access here.

Like what ?? Do you have a choice of cable providers ?? Can you get 2000/384k DSL for $40-60/month ?? If TW in NYC is anything like the TW here, they simply don't care... It's their way or the highway... In fact, around here they think there is no one else to go to.

ha, they are throttling your service now and you are not aware of it. how is this different, except for the supposed download speed of 3mg? They can throttle you at 3mg as easily as 1mg. I see the commercials, and at no time do I get real time imaging, like that basketball playback on their tv commercials. Throttling means the computer automatically changes your speed when it or the loop exceeds a certain amount of data. Cable is cheaper, but in some ways just as crappy as DSL.

that and the fear of tiering were the two major reason why I packed up my RR equip. and went back to DSL.

umm, the debate hasnt been about throttling (1.5mbps, 2mbps, etc..) which has been in place since before @home. it's about usage caps (40GB/mo, etc..)
