And, on a conciliatory note...

...I have to say I'm enjoying the debate. Just because I disagree with the thoughts being posted doesn't mean I hold any animosity for the people posting them. That's the great thing about opinions...there's room for all of them.

Looking forward to more constructive, productive debate.

I'm happy to see that you've softened a bit since the early days of ripping on the moral values of p2p users. The truth is that no one knows the true extent of p2p, however it has been going strong for several years and the prophecies of doom shouted by the RIAA and others since the early days of Napster have not come to pass.

Sometimes people who are familiar and comfortable with the way things used to be fear change and innovation, because of the uncertainty it brings. It is one thing to be apprehensive about the possible future impacts of p2p, and quite another to become a zealous and committed enemy of p2p technology given the paucity of evidence available to support such convictions.

To all the scared artists out there, just adopt the 'wait and see' approach instead of acting out of irrational fear, and you will understand in time that your fears have no basis.

Kaltes,

I agree with you that the prophecies of doom are most likely premature.
