 | Yeah I'm averaging between 300 and 500 Kbps. It was fine up until 1am this morning. |

My down speed has been as bad as 122.2 at about 1:20 P. usihg V's speed test. DSLR test at 9:30A was 312.0. I called tech support and they said there was a problem in Baltimore and had no idea when it would be fixed. BUT call them back in two hours if the speed had not returned and enjoy being on hold! -- Cheers! Ed |

 | Thank god i thaught it was just me. I hope they fix this soon. |

| reply to phatmdcrab I couldn't get connected at all earlier, so I switched over to my cable modem.
On the DSL line, ready light is on, but my router complains that it can't contact the PPPoE server. Power cycling both the modem and then the router did not seem to have any effect.
Their system status page »cgi.verizon.net/systemstatus/sta···=central has "nothing to report". So maybe they don't know about it, yet. Call in and report it!
EDIT: I just tried connecting it to my WinXP box directly with WinXP's built in PPPoE support. At first I got an error code 619. I tried again to connect and it worked. I switched back over to my router and it's working OK now, too. Speed test gave 1508 / 137 and 1510 / 136 to the NJ speed test here at DSLR. Maybe it's fixed... maybe it's not. (I never noticed slowdown; it just outright wasn't working when I checked it at noon today).
EDIT #2: I briefly could not connect while trying to post this. Before I could log into my router to check if it was still connected via PPPoE, the connection was back. [text was edited by author 2003-07-29 15:22:47] |

| reply to phatmdcrab Correction: Problems still exist.
Talked with a customer representative and he told me there was a problem in the Baltimore area. The problem is being worked on and they should have it fixed by the end of the day. [text was edited by author 2003-07-29 16:53:31] |

| I'm also experiencing another issue aside from the download speeds. When I have my regular phone line and the DSL line plugged into a splitter, if someone attempts to call me, the line will ring once and then become static. If I unplug the DSL line, then I can receive inbound calls, but obviously no Internet. I've try replacing the splitters and checking the filters. Everything was fine up until this morning.
I'm also getting 54 down / 136 up. I'm about to call Verizon. WTF [text was edited by author 2003-07-29 16:33:25] |

I would guess they are having some routing or DHCP or DNS issues. -- Without the spice of risk, the taste of victory is bland.~FRED~ |

| reply to phatmdcrab DITTO!! Baltimore is sucking eggs tonight.
-90+ms latency on every hop in the Verizon network [I also noticed awful latency in the Sprint and AOl networks as well???] -50% dropped packets on several Verizon hops
I came to complain about the 90+ms latency tonight and dropped packets......and lo and behold this is old news.
THis place is great.... [text was edited by author 2003-07-29 22:56:09] |

 | reply to phatmdcrab My Verizon DSL experience basically boils down to "Worked flawlessly for several months, now approaching useless". The problems seemed to start one weekend about a month ago with surfing slowing way down or coming to a complete halt for a few minutes. It's gradually increased until now it's sluggish more often than not. I can no longer count on getting a good connection anymore. |
