One tech support representative suggested it's the ethernet card and firewall in my pc that causing the slowdown. There's no problem with their network, they say! It's the Baltimorons personal computers that are causing the slowdowns for such a fine DSL network!

Same story here, it has be my computer, disable this, turn that off etc.------

You would think 48 hours into a major outage such as this T/S would know their is a network problem.

Magically my speed is back. Need to check out the issue with my phone line. Two days of sub 100K speeds makes me very unhappy.

Test from wdc.speakeasy.net

-------------------------
2003-07-31 00:13:49 EST: 1498 / 138
Your download speed : 1498694 bps, or 1498 kbps.
A 182.9 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 138217 bps, or 138 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!
-------------------------

Test 2

-------------------------
2003-07-31 00:28:06 EST: 1515 / 136
Your download speed : 1515775 bps, or 1515 kbps.
A 185 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 136332 bps, or 136 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

Had verizon now for 18 months with very little problems. They still won't give me 1.5mb, distance 12,000 ft they say. Received the price cut as requested. $35/month.

2 days straight night time speed is just over dialup. I'm paying for 768/128 and for a year plus have been getting 728/136. I speed check here at dslreports. Verizon says its a trunk issue they know the problem. Their cheap rates ...they have over subscribed

Baltimore problems seem to be fixed now. After about 11:00 pm last night, the speed really improved. I am now getting my rated speed 768/128. First hop pings went down from 90ms to 16ms.

I also tried it this morning, and it still is fine. Downloads clocking around 90KBps.

Yep, speed seems fine here too as of this morning. Getting 16 msec first-hop ping (vs 78 msec yesterday), no packet loss, and 711/131 kbps transfer speeds. Interesetingly, none of the routers were changed out overnight--still see the same routers on my first few hops out of Baltimore over to Reston.
